We all do it.
Delude ourselves that we will be happy once we attain some specific thing, which will magically make our problems disappear and give us a positive personality transplant.
The problem is not having goals. Goals are good. The problem is attaching your happiness to those goals.
We are searching for happiness in the wrong places.
Real happiness - rather than the brief thrill of reaching a fitness or financial or follower goal - is a process not a destination, internal not external.
You might reach that goal, and you’ll feel happy for a little bit. Lovely. But then it slips away. You always reset to where you were.
Get off the treadmill.
