Can you help/ do you need help with getting food etc. whilst self isolating?

UK based and explicitly for q***r and trans* immunocompromised, diabetic, self isolating asthmatic or elderly folks in order to help them/us get support with food shopping, meal preps, cleaning products and other care work whilst in self isolation due to the Corona Virus.

If you are able-bodied and not in a higher-risk group, please consider volunteering to help support those more vulnerable, and please share with your community.

This is the form for signing up to get help getting food and other necessities for people who should be avoiding leaving the house, or who're unable to. The aim is to reduce the number of vulnerable people going outside and placing themselves in the path of infection and thus reduce pressure on the....

The common understanding is that disabled people are impaired by their bodies or brains and are passive recipients of help from society. This is a very harmful paradigm.

We believe that disabled people are impaired by an inaccessible and intolerant society and that we are active agents of change. We understand disability rights as civil rights, not charity.

The reality is that disabled people have been fighting for their rights throughout history. But this is rarely spoken about. So as part of we will be sharing examples of organisations, leaders and campaigns through history who have fought for the rights that we have today.

These examples show that disabled people are not passive recipients but can be activists and great forces in society. It also shows that many of the issues we are fighting today - eugenics discussions, being spoken over, inaccessible estates and services - have parallels throughout history.

Check out and pls go along to the brilliant events for Disability History Month being hosted at UCL. SOAS students are welcome to attend!

Disability History Month (November 22-December 22) has now officially started! This month provides an opportunity to reflect on what the Disability Rights Movement has achieved so far and be inspired by this legacy as we continue the fight for equality. If you want to learn about how to contribute towards equality the Disabled Students Network has a full schedule for you this month.

This month the Disabled Students Network is releasing a report on discrimination experienced by disabled students at UCL and asking UCL to make a commitment towards equal access for its disabled students.

Next week we are hosting a fishbowl panel to discuss what disability activism and allyship looks like in general and at UCL. Allies and beginners are very welcome and encouraged.
(Wednesday 27th, 6:30-8:30 pm, Roberts building 110) https://www.facebook.com/events/559138578170073/

The following week we will meet for a disability activism screening and pizza, followed by a discussion on how to take our activism further at UCL. Allies and beginners are again welcome.
(Tuesday 3rd, 4:00-6:00 pm, Roberts building 106)
https://www.facebook.com/events/732237467278354/

Finally we will have a social where we will be working on the DSN manifesto together. This is for disabled students only. (Wednesday 11th, 4:30-6:00 pm, Foster Court 114)

Throughout the month we will be posting information about disability rights and disability history, and towards the end of the month we are setting up an online reading and discussion group, Know Your Place, for students interested in learning more about the Disability Rights Movement.

We are creating change this month, join us!

The DSN represents all students who self-identify as deaf or disabled including, but not limited to, all students with SoRAs, those with physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, specific learning disabilities and mental health issues.
