It's starting to look a lot like Christmas here in Parkview.

The people living with us made their first Christmas decorations. We filled some beautiful baubles with tinsel and little ornaments and also included a Christmas wish on a little bit of paper in the middle of the bauble. They look beautiful, and we will be making more aswell as lots of other handmade decorations to display in our home.

At Parkview Care Home, many of our wonderful residents are living with dementia. Every day, we see both the challenges and the moments of joy that come with supporting those affected. That’s why we’re taking part in the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk - to raise vital funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity that supports people living with dementia and their families, and funds crucial research into better treatments and care.

We want to make a difference - not only for our residents, but for the millions of people and families across the UK who are affected by dementia. It can be an incredibly hard journey, and we believe everyone deserves support, understanding, and hope.

If you’re able to, please consider donating. Every contribution, big or small, will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Society to help fund research, provide care, and support families through one of life’s toughest challenges.

Even if you can’t join us on our Memory Walk, you can still be part of this fantastic cause by donating and helping to spread awareness.

Our ladies gathered again today for their weekly lunch date. We also did flower arranging, manicures and hairdressing together with quizzes and loads of chats. It was a lovely day for the ladies living with us. Thank you also to Jade, our regional lifestyle manager for helping us and joining in today.

We marked Remembrance Sunday by making Poppy Wreaths, listening to poems and remembering past and present Armed Forces. We also had a statement read from a relative of Patrick, who remembers World War II and how it affected his family. He was himself too young to serve in the war but did his National Service after the war for two years with REF in Germany. It was a moving statement.

We also did a sing along and observed the minute silence. It was a wonderful and memorable day for the people living with us.
All through October we had crocheted Poppies and we raised a considerable amount for the Royal British Legion. We will have our collection tin counted shortly. Well done everyone!

We had a very exciting and engaging chair based fitness class with a fantastic fitness instructor. The people living with us really enjoyed this More...Movement session as it was fun, entertaining and they did their exercise without even noticing.

We also did some guided meditation which was very relaxing. We are really looking forward to having Martin the fitness instructor back again at some point. Well done everyone.

We celebrated the 5th of November with Art & Craft, making a Guy Fawkes, and sparklers. In the morning we created More...Sensory art with our fireworks pictures. Then we made a Guy Fawkes and took him around the home. We listened to the poem about the Gunpowder plot and did a quiz about the historical events.

There was a lot of laughter and giggles when Guy made his round. In the evening we went to the garden to watch the fireworks outside and had some sparklers of our own. It was a fantastic day 😊

In the afternoon, when it started to get slightly dark outside local children came for Trick Or Treating. All the people living with us were handing out sweets and chatting to the children. The day concluded with a movie in our brand-new cinema corner. We watched "101 Dalmatians" and had popcorn cakes and hot chocolate. It was a wonderful day full of autumn joy and laughs all around.
