Hey there! Just a reminder from your Brunel Medical School lecturer: setbacks are just stepping stones to something better. Didn’t get the grades or offer you hoped for? That’s perfectly okay—what matters is that you tried your best. Remember, your value goes way beyond grades or offers. Stay positive, keep building that resilience, and don’t be afraid to ask for support. You’re capable of amazing things—so keep pushing forward! You’ve absolutely got this!

Lecturer at Brunel Medical School:
Talk about medicine honestly — explain the course, career paths, and other healthcare options without overpromising. Be upfront: it’s competitive and demanding (often 5 days/week, 9–5), so it needs real commitment. Celebrate diverse student stories to help people feel they belong. In the end, it’s their choice to apply, and they’ll go through the same admissions process as everyone else.

Brunel Medical School is expanding access through its Widening Participation scheme. A lecturer explains who qualifies: care-experienced students, young carers with unpaid caring responsibilities, asylum seekers and refugees, students on free school meals, and those from deprived neighbourhoods. The programme offers targeted outreach, financial support, pastoral care and events to help these students explore healthcare degrees and prepare for competitive applications.
