£12 - £13.00 per hour

Delivering training and work placements for EU nurses wishing to work in the UK

My name is Enrique, I am a Spanish Nurse and this I started working for the Sherwood Forest Hospital NHS Trust as a Registered Nurse in January 2014.
I was a nursing student when the idea of working in the UK first popped into my head. It was not a priority, it was just a thought: “It would be nice to work over there”. Then the situation changed, and my priorities shifted. The possibility of moving over to UK suddendly wasn’t that far-fetched. That’s when I turned to the Internet for information, and after the first overload, I found out there are many different ways to achieve the same goal.
I decided to get the help of a recruiting agency, since I wasn’t sure of how to tackle the role of a jobseeker from a different country, and I didn’t want to move over there until I was sure there was a job for me out there. Blackbird was not the first agency I contacted, but after my first interview I knew I wanted to work with them.
Calling it an interview might be wrong. Up until that point, interviews were something intimidating, and the interviewer was there to w**d candidates out. With Annette it was more like having a chat. She made me think about my strengths and weaknesses and about what I had to offer for a possible employer. I still remember what she told me after: “I am 99% sure I can find a suitable job for you.”
They kept her word. They had my back during every part of the process: they helped me prepare the interview, they were always on the other side of the screen if I had any doubts with the compliance paperwork once was selected, and they continue to support me now that I am in British soil.
Moving to a different country has not been easy, but I am sure it would have been at least ten times harder without Blackbird’s help.

This home is registered for 47 and is general nursing with a dedicated dementia wing.
Experience: Care Home experience essential

Hours: full time – 36 hours per week
Location: Somerset
Salary: circa £31k

Qualifications: RN
Roles and Responsibilities: To support the Home Manager in the effective management and administration of the home in accordance with Company Policy and manual to agreed budget, and to provide a caring environment that meets the individual needs of the residents and governing body requirements, in the absence of the Home Manager. To plan, implement and supervise care in designated area of responsibility.
To be physically involved in the care of the residents and to meet all service users' individual needs either personally or through delegation. To take responsibility for and effectively supervise the day to day running of the home, in the absence of the Home Manager.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications Required: A genuine interest in working within a caring environment. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels. A team player. A willingness to participate in vocational training programmes. Satisfactory police check and check against the DBS Adult first list (where applicable). A basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
