Join us for a full day of structured teaching, expert guidance and hands on practice in core surgical skills. From understanding wound healing principles to mastering interrupted, continuous and advanced suturing techniques, this event is designed to build both confidence and precision.

With expert feedback, a portfolio building talk, hot lunch included and certificate upon completion, this is more than a workshop, it is a milestone in your surgical journey.

This is your chance to test your knowledge, challenge yourself and potentially represent UCL on an inter university stage. We will be selecting 3 finalists to compete for UCL at this year’s Anatomy Cup.

✨ Happy New Year from UCL Surgical Society ✨

As we step into the year ahead, we want to thank every student, member and supporter who has been part of our journey so far. Your engagement, ideas and support continue to inspire us to think bigger, aim higher and deliver more for our community.

With exciting initiatives already underway, including flagship conferences, new workshops and expanded opportunities across education, skills, careers and wellbeing, we are looking forward to another year of growth, collaboration and shared ambition.

Here’s to a year filled with purpose, progress and community 💙

The Scrubs Run is UCL Surgical Society’s flagship welfare initiative, and this year, in collaboration with RUMS, it truly became bigger than ever before.

In the midst of demanding and busy schedules, this evening was a reminder of the importance of coming together as a community, prioritising wellbeing, and supporting one another beyond the wards and lecture theatres. Whether running, walking, or cheering others on, everyone who took part contributed to something far greater than the event itself.

Together, we raised nearly £800 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, helping to support vital care and research for children and families when they need it most. This achievement reflects the generosity, energy, and spirit of our students and members.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make this event such a success. We are incredibly proud of what we achieved and grateful to be part of a community that continues to lead with compassion, commitment, and purpose.

📣 iBSc Applications, The Inside Guide

Calling all Y2 MBBS students!

Following the official UCL iBSc Fair, join us for an inside guide to the iBSc application process. This session brings together top performing Year 3 & 4 students who will share honest insights, what they wish they had known before applying, and real examples of strong applications and personal statements.

This is your chance to hear the student perspective, ask questions, compare options and gain clarity before applications open. An extended Q & A will give you the opportunity to explore any remaining thoughts or concerns. We hope this session supports you in making informed and confident decisions for your intercalated year. Don’t miss this event! ✨

UCL Surgical Society x RUMS: The UCL Scrubs Run 2025 🏃🏃‍♂️

Join us on Thursday 4th December for the annual UCL Scrubs Run, brought to you in collaboration with RUMS! Whether you are a seasoned runner or simply fancy a walk with friends, this is an event for everyone. Throw on your scrubs, bring the energy, and let us make it a memorable evening together 💙✨

📍 Meeting Point: Outside UCLH
🕕 Time: 6:00 PM
➡️ Route: Run or walk from UCLH to the Royal Free Hospital
☕ Post-Run Treat: Complimentary hot chocolate in the Royal Free Common Room
🎟️ Prizes: Conference tickets, gala dinner tickets, suturing kits and more. Extra raffle entries can be purchased at the end of the run (3 entries for £5)

Tickets, which include one raffle entry, can be purchased by making a £5 donation with your name clearly stated on our JustGiving page. All proceeds will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital, get active and support an amazing cause!
