While here I’m focusing on the hypocrisy and weak argument being made, it’s worth remembering we have a large body of evidence showing seed oils are not inherently harmful. For example, a brand new review from .matthewnagra and colleagues ‘Concerns about the health effects of industrially produced seed oils are without scientific foundation: a scoping narrative review of the clinical and observational evidence’ concluded:“The overall balance of evidence from RCTs, observational studies, and MR studies does not support claims of harm. If anything, replacing saturated fat–rich foods with seed oils is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.”
That said, I’m not recommending a diet high in ultra-processed foods that tend to contain seed oils. But when comparing fats directly, the evidence consistently shows they’re a better option than animal fats high in saturated fat.
