While here I’m focusing on the hypocrisy and weak argument being made, it’s worth remembering we have a large body of evidence showing seed oils are not inherently harmful. For example, a brand new review from .matthewnagra and colleagues ‘Concerns about the health effects of industrially produced seed oils are without scientific foundation: a scoping narrative review of the clinical and observational evidence’ concluded:“The overall balance of evidence from RCTs, observational studies, and MR studies does not support claims of harm. If anything, replacing saturated fat–rich foods with seed oils is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.”

That said, I’m not recommending a diet high in ultra-processed foods that tend to contain seed oils. But when comparing fats directly, the evidence consistently shows they’re a better option than animal fats high in saturated fat.

This isn’t to say that you should blindly believe everything you’re told, even from people in positions of “authority.” It’s about understanding how evidence actually works - weighing decades of research against cherry-picked anecdotes, and recognising the selective skepticism that conveniently disappears when something aligns with these people’s existing bias 👀

Remember scepticism without critical thinking is just conspiracy 😏

Doggo clip unrelated 🤪

In his full YouTube video he lists 5 things to target visceral/belly fat. However, while all the recommendations are good tips, they’re not uniquely effective for visceral fat. So here are 4 things that are 🫡

Yeah you’re right in order to asses whether food is health promoting or not we should totally ignore hundreds and hundreds of studies and ask a child what they like instead 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

5 things I was WRONG about 👀

“There’s nothing wrong with being wrong-only with refusing to grow after the truth taps you on the shoulder.”

What’s something you’ve changed your mind on? 🧐

No.. they are not inherently fattening and you can pry my pasta from my cold 💀 hands 😏

Studies don’t factor in what other foods people eat!? 🧐

There’s a real problem myself and .matthewnagra have noticed in this space: people criticizing studies and pointing out their supposed flaws despite clearly never having read them. This example is a perfect illustration of that and why it can be problematic.

If you’re going to cite research, the least you can do is take the time to read it so you don’t end up looking like a complete pelican 😏

Great video from

I totally agree with this approach 👏🏼

Obesity does not increase disease risk? 🧐Now to reiterate, there were elements of this video that I agreed with, and topics such as weight stigma are things I’ve covered many times.
However, denying that excess body fat - particularly visceral (belly) fat - can be harmful is simply misinformation.

Only other exception is charcuterie 😏

Obviously a tongue in cheek post but there does seem to be a very strong correlation between those who eat meals off of chopping boards and those who spout misinformation 😅
