Not all plastic surgeons will tell you this…
But your results are NOT just about the surgery, they’re about what you do around it.
Here’s what actually changes outcomes 👇
🍎 Nutrition = healing speed
Your body is rebuilding tissue. If your diet is poor, your recovery is slower.
Think: protein, vegetables, healthy fats, hydration.
Not ultra-processed food, excess sugar, or junk.
⚖️ BMI matters (under 28)
Not for aesthetics….for safety, healing, and predictability.
Higher BMI = higher surgical risk and less predictable results.
🚭 Smoking is a major risk factor (stop 3 months before surgery)
Smoking restricts blood flow and oxygen to your tissues.
That means slower healing, worse scarring and in breast surgery cases, it can even lead to ni**le loss (necrosis).
This is one of the biggest avoidable risks.
🍷 Alcohol (stop at least 1 week before surgery)
It thins your blood, increases swelling, affects anaesthesia, and slows recovery.
Most people underestimate this.
💧 Hydration + electrolytes = underrated game changer
Good hydration supports circulation and healing.
Electrolytes help your body manage fluid shifts, swelling, and recovery stress.
🏃♀️ Basic fitness = better recovery
You don’t need to be “fit-fit” but a healthy baseline improves circulation and helps your body bounce back faster.
🛌 Sleep is part of the procedure
Healing doesn’t happen in the clinic, it happens while you sleep.
Poor rest = worse swelling, slower recovery, lower-quality healing.
✨ Reality check:
Surgery is just the start.
Your prep + your recovery = your final result.
