Our residents had a spooktacular time this Halloween as our incredible care teams went above and beyond to make the celebrations truly unforgettable! 👻💚

In the lead-up to Halloween 🎃, residents got creative with pumpkin carving competitions and took part in a range of festive activities (and a few friendly scares!) along the way. The fun continued as our homes hosted Halloween parties filled with unique costumes, treats, and dancing.

A big thank you to our wonderful families, friends, and amazing teams for filling this Halloween with so much fun and joy! 🕸️

Talking About Care: Did You See Dilly Carter on ITV’s Lorraine This Week?

Dilly spoke openly about her experience of placing her mum into care home at a point when her own health meant she could no longer look after her. A situation many families will recognise. Her story highlighted the importance of having reliable information and support when making decisions about care.

During the feature Dr Amir shared practical advice on what to consider when you first start thinking about care, from understanding the different types of support and funding available to knowing what questions to ask.

It was reassuring to hear that Dilly’s mum is now very happy in her new care setting, allowing them to focus on enjoying their mother–daughter relationship once again.

This Sunday, 5 October, we celebrate both 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 and 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 – two special occasions that remind us of the richness of ageing and the many roles people continue to play later in life.

From being a loving grandma or granddad to offering wisdom, guidance, and friendship, every stage of life brings new ways to inspire and connect.

At Greensleeves Care, we want to celebrate all grandparents and everyone in later life – especially our residents, their families, and our dedicated colleagues

As part of our new wellbeing push to get everyone at Greensleeves moving more, we’re aiming to travel 𝟮𝟯𝟴,𝟴𝟱𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 — the distance to the Moon — 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟬 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (the anniversary of the first Moon landing).

👣 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁:
Walk, jog, pedal (mini pedal exercisers welcome!), count wheelchair pushes, join dance sessions or movement classes — every step counts.

📝 𝗟𝗼𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀:
Use a pedometer, an app, or simply note them down, then share with your Greensleeves Care home team so we can add it to our total. We’ll be sharing our progress along the way!

Today is a special day – 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗡 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 💜. This year’s theme is about taking action locally and globally to make sure older people’s voices are heard.

At Greensleeves Care, that’s something we live by every day. Here are just a few of the ways we put our residents at the heart of everything we do:

✨ 99% of residents are happy with the help they receive, and 95% feel encouraged to take part in activities and the life of their home.
✨ Many of our homes have Resident Ambassadors who represent fellow residents and actively shape daily life.
✨ We involve residents in our national campaigns - together, we have helped demystify care homes and made care information more accessible to families.
✨ We listen to residents’ voices, including through our annual survey and a dedicated role, and act on their feedback.

Older people have so much to contribute – and we’re proud to stand alongside them, making sure they feel heard, valued, and celebrated.

De Lucy House in Diss marked their 10th anniversary with a garden party and service awards recognising their incredible long-standing team.

Nine team members were honoured with long service awards, presented by Greensleeves Care’s Chief Executive, Christopher Poole. It was a proud moment to celebrate their dedication and love for our residents.

Special guests, including the Mayor of Diss, Cllr Declan Craggs, joined us to enjoy live music from local musician Terry Adams, along with delicious food, drinks, and entertainment in our beautiful gardens.

Home Manager, Lauren Tubby, said: “Our staff’s hard work and dedication over the past decade is incredibly important to celebrate, and I couldn’t be prouder of all our achievements.”
