Harold White Funeral Directors is an independent family business that has been supporting families in the East London and Essex communities since 1888. For over 130 years, our experienced and compassionate team have been arranging many different types of funeral from our three funeral homes in South Chingford, Buckhurst Hill and Walthamstow. We continue to provide the stunning horse-drawn funerals that originally earned our reputation but today we can also offer alternative celebrations, direct cremations and eco-funerals alongside our traditional services. We welcome all faiths and no matter what your beliefs are, we can guide you through the various ways to personalise a service and create a truly meaningful tribute for your loved one. We arranged a service yesterday at GreenAcres Living Memorial Parks Epping Park. Despite the rain, the woodland was stunning. This natural setting has a way of bringing comfort in all seasons - even the wet ones!

We recently organised the funeral for Mr Bonner, a much loved figure and familiar face on Walthamstow’s famous street market.

On the journey to the natural burial ground, the funeral procession stopped at the entrance to the High Street, where despite the poor weather and maze of road works, many friends and fellow stallholders came along to pay their respects. It was touching to see such a huge outpouring of love for this well respected man from the tight-knit local community.

We also loved the hand-made miniature replica market stall which had been hand-made by Mr Bonner - clearly a man of many talents. It was lovely to see friends and family coming together, and a real honour for us to be able to play our part on the day.

From a recent service at Chigwell Convent - a grand building surrounded by beautiful, peaceful grounds. The family found us through a recommendation, which is always special. Nothing means more than knowing families we've helped feel comfortable suggesting us to others during difficult times.

On Friday, our community gathered at Chingford Mount Cemetery for the annual Laying of Flowers Ceremony, honouring the 321 service personnel buried there who gave their lives during the two World Wars.

Children from ten local schools joined veterans, Councillor Roy Berg, Sir Iain Duncan Smith and others who served in our forces, with many laying wreaths at the war memorial. We were privileged to sponsor and help organise this year's ceremony, watching young and old stand together in remembrance.

Today and always, we honour their memory.

We were at St Joseph's Church in Leyton recently for a service - what an amazing setting. It was very wet out there, but that didn't take away from how touching the service was. Grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day for the family.
