Harold White Funeral Directors is an independent family business that has been supporting families in the East London and Essex communities since 1888. For over 130 years, our experienced and compassionate team have been arranging many different types of funeral from our three funeral homes in South Chingford, Buckhurst Hill and Walthamstow. We continue to provide the stunning horse-drawn funerals that originally earned our reputation but today we can also offer alternative celebrations, direct cremations and eco-funerals alongside our traditional services. On Friday, our community gathered at Chingford Mount Cemetery for the annual Laying of Flowers Ceremony, honouring the 321 service personnel buried there who gave their lives during the two World Wars.

Children from ten local schools joined veterans, Councillor Roy Berg, Sir Iain Duncan Smith and others who served in our forces, with many laying wreaths at the war memorial. We were privileged to sponsor and help organise this year's ceremony, watching young and old stand together in remembrance.

Today and always, we honour their memory.

We were at St Joseph's Church in Leyton recently for a service - what an amazing setting. It was very wet out there, but that didn't take away from how touching the service was. Grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day for the family.

We were back in Enfield recently for our first service at Lincoln Road Chapel in Ponders End. It was lovely to make a new connection and we’re always grateful when families trust us to arrange their farewells at venues across the area.

Last week we were at Trinity-at-Bowes Methodist Church in Enfield, blessed with some beautiful late summer sunshine. The church is celebrating 125 years this year, and while it's not in the original building anymore, the modern design makes for a really bright and welcoming space. It's nice to work at such a variety of venues - from the traditional forest churches to contemporary buildings like this one.

Last week we had a horse-drawn service which set out from our Buckhurst Hill funeral home. We haven't posted any of these recently, so thought we'd share these lovely shots of Eldo and Will - who were perfectly behaved as always! There's something really moving about watching the horses make their way through the streets. They always seem to bring a sense of calm to the day and create such a memorable farewell for families.

We organised a service at Holy Innocents in High Beach today - always one of our favourite little churches. Tucked away in Epping Forest, it's such a lovely location. Each time we're here it feels special, and it’s easy to see why families choose this beautiful spot for their farewells.
