Big news: the morning after pill is now available FREE from nearly 10,000 pharmacies across England. 👏

It’s a major move, and one we absolutely applaud. Previously, if you couldn’t get a GP or sexual health appointment, you probably had to trek to a pharmacy, be subjected to shaming, judgement (we catalogued your experiences over on our blog 👀 ) and paying up to £30 for the pill. 👇

Now, this move is being heralded as one of the biggest changes to sexual health services since the 1960s, it’s a real game changer when it comes to getting reproductive healthcare into communities - without you having to wait forever for an appointment. 💙

Convenience is a big factor to consider when it comes to sexual healthcare. We launched emergency contraception via our online clinic during lockdown in response to our community’s feedback and concerns. You found it difficult, even pre-COVID, to book GP appointments or find time to get to a reasonably located AND open sexual health clinic, so we brought in the option to order via digital consultation and discreet delivery to your door. The result? It’s quickly become one of the most requested treatments on site.

Convenience is just one aspect at play here, though. Emergency contraception is VITAL healthcare - and we should collectively as a society aim to remove hurdles that make hard to get when you really need it. 👊 

Just a few years on from bringing it online for our community, we’re thrilled to see such a bold move from NHS to make the morning after pill far more accessible.
