Dom recently took on an amazing 100+ mile bike ride through the Peak District and raised an incredible £1,605 for St George’s Hospital Charity. Over the past 18 months, Dom has described his treatment at St George’s as a beacon of support, guiding him through challenges. Inspired to give back, he took on this special challenge and what an achievement!

✨ We’re thrilled to announce that St George’s Hospital Charity has been awarded £237,000 from NHS Charities Together as part of the national Workforce Wellbeing Programme!
This transformational grant will fund Project Night Owl, a pioneering initiative designed to support the wellbeing of our incredible night-working NHS colleagues at St George’s Hospital. 🌙

Night shifts play a vital role in keeping patients safe, but we know they can take a toll on physical and mental health. With this funding, we’ll be introducing:
💤 Digital sleep tools
🩺 Health MOTs during night shifts
🧠 Tailored training for night shift workers
💡 Circadian-friendly lighting pilots
🌿 Grants to support refreshed rest spaces and other helpful initiatives
🌟 And 50 trained Night Owl Champions leading peer support and cultural change.

St George’s Hospital Charity has received the largest single donation in our history. A landmark £4.8 million gift to transform lymphoedema research and care at St George’s.

This extraordinary donation will fund an ambitious, multi-year research and clinical programme at City St George’s, University of London and St George's, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Group, one of the world’s leading centres for lymphoedema and lymphatic disease.

The new funding will enable the expansion of cutting-edge genetic research, the development of new drug therapies, improved diagnostic techniques, and enhanced education and training for future lymphatic specialists.

We are deeply grateful and incredibly excited for the impact this will unlock for patients for generations to come.

Meet our new London Borough of Culture Intern, Sadie!

This September, St George’s Hospital Charity were delighted to welcome a new colleague to our team, through the Wandsworth London Borough of Culture internship scheme. Sadie joined us with a background in museums and art curation and facilitation, and is applying her past experiences to learn about creativity in the healthcare setting.

We caught up with Sadie, a month into her 6-month internship, funded by Wandsworth Council, to learn about her time with us so far!

Sadie says: “I’ve learned so many new things about collection care, curation and installation outside of a traditional art space, alongside working on the participatory programme, shadowing artists and helping to deliver workshops.”

Just under a year after sudden treatment at St George’s and learning to walk again, James and his wife Tracey recently took on the Vitality London 10,000 and raised an incredible £2,085! 💙

This amazing achievement is a beautiful way to thank the doctors, nurses and therapists who helped James relearn how to walk and talk, giving him back a normal life.

It’s truly inspiring to see how far James has come and the love and dedication behind this special challenge. Thank you, James and Tracey, for giving back in such a meaningful way - we’re so grateful for your support! 🙏✨

Last week our Arts team hosted a Staff Arts Club Collage workshop 🎨 ✂️

Our monthly Staff Arts Club workshops aim to provide a space for our trust staff to decompress, have fun and be creative!

This session was hosted by the brilliant Asma Istwani who is a participant on the Wandsworth's London Borough of Culture 'Culturally Mindful' professional development programme. As well as this session, we are looking forward to hosting Asma at Queen Mary's Hospital in the coming months, where she will complete her artist residency as part of the programme.
