Interceptive Orthodontics can make a big difference at a young age! This 5.5-year-old patient came to us concerned about the unusual eruption of their upper incisors after losing a baby tooth early due to trauma. Additionally, a supernumerary tooth was present, contributing to misalignment.

To correct this, we surgically extracted the extra tooth and placed sectional fixed appliance on the upper arch to align the incisors. In just 7 months, we achieved a beautifully aligned upper incisors! To maintain the results, we placed an orthoflex behind the upper teeth and provided Hawley retainers. Now, we’ll continue monitoring until all permanent teeth erupt and reevaluate for any future orthodontic needs.

Early intervention can set the stage for a healthier, more confident smile! ✨

This patient’s journey started with the extraction of her upper left second incisor due to dens invaginatus (also known as “tooth within a tooth”), which had a poor long-term prognosis. As a result, her center lines were shifted from the facial midline.

To help correct this, we fitted upper and lower fixed braces with a TPA (transpalatal arch) for anchorage. We also carefully planned extractions of the first premolar on the upper right side and the first premolar on the lower right side to bring everything into better alignment.

After completing orthodontic treatment, we provided bonded retainers and nighttime removable retainers to help maintain her beautiful new smile.

This lovely patient started their orthodontic journey with upper and lower braces to create space for an impacted upper left canine. Once enough space was achieved, the tooth was surgically exposed and gently guided into place using braces.

Now, with treatment complete, their teeth are perfectly aligned, and their smile has never looked better! To keep everything in place, we provided both fixed and removable retainers.
