Rose hips are one of autumn’s best-kept secrets 🍂🌹 Easy to spot and even easier to use, they grow wild across the UK and are ready to pick once the rose petals have fallen.
These bright red fruits are full of vitamin C, making them a great natural support during the cold season. After a light frost, they soften and become perfect for foraging. Just snip them from the stem, trim the ends, and dry them gently or use fresh.
You can brew rose hips into a warming tea 🍵, simmer them into syrup for pancakes or winter drinks, or steep them in oil to make skin-soothing balms. Their tart, fruity flavour also works beautifully in jams, jellies, or chutneys.
If you’re heading out for a walk this weekend, keep an eye out for them along hedgerows and field paths. A little basket of rose hips goes a long way 🌾✨
