Thank you to .ra for inviting Sarah to speak.

It was a fantastic opportunity to empower parents and young girls by exploring the science behind building resilience and unlocking children’s potential.

We covered many important topics that parents can do themselves at home. These include ‘eating a rainbow’, reducing sugar loading and having a protein-based breakfast - the importance of outdoor play and meeting friends in person.

Why setting up a healthy circadian rhythm is so important and how to do so. We also covered more difficult topics, such as why girls are more prone to the mental health difficulties caused by social media than boys.

We covered the need to reduce (or ideally ban) social media usage in under-16s, if we want to preserve their mental health and the need for group action by parents and schools to achieve this without FOMO.

We also discussed the importance of children experiencing unsupervised, risky play as a way to grow in confidence and prevent future anxiety when they will inevitably have to face things alone.

Sarah will be exploring “The Science Behind Unlocking Potential in Kids”, helping parents and children understand the physiology of resilience and growth.

The Elevate Festival is a not-for-profit, one-day event dedicated to empowering girls aged 9–13 (and their adults!) through the ups and downs of adolescence.
