Ageing literature consistently shows that only one in seven older adults is offered memory and cognitive assessment. Primary care physicians often lack sensitive assessment tools and guidance to detect cognitive and memory problems promptly. I offer tests sensitive to the early detection of Alzheimer's type dementia at my Harley Street practice in London. I also see my clients in Kent.

Validation therapy is frequently used in dementia care to redirect behaviour which is causing anger or frustration. In very general terms this type of therapy is based on a VALIDATION of the person's reality.

For instance, if a person suffering from dementia says:
'My husband is coming to get me'.
(Don’t say: 'Your husband is dead. He has been dead for years).
Instead ask:' Do you love your husband? What is his name?'
