HOW DOES LASER TREATMENT HELP WITH MELASMA?

Some types of laser also remove the outer layer of skin, whereas others specifically target the pigment-producing cells. At present, the success of laser treatment is variable, and the possible side effects can be similar to peels and micro-dermabrasion. These treatments are usually not available as NHS procedures.

The Pulsed dye laser treatment is designed to lighten red-coloured skin marks, such as port wine stains, birth-marks on your skin or facial thread veins. These marks are referred to as ‘lesions’ throughout this leaflet. These lesions contain tiny blood vessels (capillaries) which have grown larger or more clustered; this is the site of laser treatment.

Pulsed dye lasers are particularly effective at treating vascular lesions, including treatment of:

What are the signs and symptoms of acne vs rosacea?

Acne comes in different forms e.g. blackheads, whiteheads, pimples or deep cysts and nodules
Redness around breakouts only
Oily skin especially on the forehead, nose and shin
