I didn’t lose weight until my 40s

But for me it wasn’t just about the weight

I didn’t want to keep dodging the camera or needing to know my angles

I wanted to wear the clothes I actually liked not just what fit

And I didn’t want to end up in a care home because my body was weak and immobile

I want to feel lean and fit for as long as I’m alive so I can live life on my terms

So I committed to my goal and stepped into a new identity

I stopped being the version of me who always started over

Whose emotions controlled everything she put in her mouth

Who felt completely out of control around food

Who was constantly on and off diets

I stopped being her and started becoming the woman who eats with freedom

Moves with confidence

Wears whatever the hell she wants

And is fitter and stronger at 48 than she was in her 20s
(and is sailing through perimenopause virtually symptom free)

That didn’t come from another diet

It came from finally understanding how weight loss actually works and building a plan that fit me

I used to think I had to exercise to lose weight

A Fitness Instructor even
told me “sweat is fat crying”

more I sweated, the more fat I

I'd hide at the back of
the class & feel like a
failure because I couldn’t

Here’s the truth:

Exercise isn’t actually

It’s not a punishment

It’s not payment for what you ate

It’s a tool, with its own benefits

But it only works if you actually enjoy it & can do it consistently

Now I move because I love feeling light and strong in my body

Not because I’m trying to burn off calories

Think eating less helps you lose weight?

I used to snack on nuts thinking
“they’re healthy - they’ll help me lose weight”

But the scale didn’t budge
and I was always hungry

What I didn’t realise is:
“healthy” doesn’t always mean low calorie

I used to believe I had to eat totally different from everyone else to lose weight

Like my dream body meant missing out on moments like:

Pizza & movie night
Date night
Dinner with friends

I’d order a salad pretending I was enjoying it whilst eyeballing everyone else’s food 👀

But here’s the truth:

You don’t need to eat “clean”
You don’t need to eat differently from your friends and family

I’ve lost 60lbs and kept it off for 6 years

With zero guilt
No restriction
And plenty of pizza đŸ€ŒđŸœđŸ˜‹

(Yes, that’s a chicken, pineapple & onion pizza — a bit random, but my fav! Apologies to all Italians 😂)
