Glittering "like a swarm of fireflies tangled in a silver braid," the Pleiades are second in beauty only to the Orion's Nebula, but visible to the naked eye. Back in November, they rose in the Eastern sky with the Ta**us Full Moon. Now, midwinter, they rise in the Southern sky.

The Pleiades have guided humanity through the dark since the dawn of human consciousness, and they still do. They (Matariki) mark the beginning /end of the Maori year, and the Pleiades at the Zenith at midnight in November marks the sidereal new year for Mesoamericans. For them, this time marker creates the longest cycle of time (the long count) in the Aztec Calendar. In Europe and the Middle East, the Pleiades were the initial seasonal cues to hunter gatherers, and later for agricultural and warfare campaigns alike.

For the last 7-8 years it has been fascinating for me to learn from the Mexican, Andean, and Maori traditions how to work with the Pleiades for healing, divination, and creating change. I will teach the Pleiades Energy Healing Course online soon.
