What is The Hybrid Project? The Hybrid Project is an innovative, voluntary collaboration between designers, artists and film-makers, working together to explore 'Hybrid Design' (the fusion of two or more contrasting design aesthetics); it culminates in the production of an exciting science fiction film 'AIR', to be directed by Emma Maclennan. Production is based at the V&A Museum in London, where project originator Hayley Nebauer is Artist in Residence until March 2013 in connection with their major exhibition 'Hollywood Costume'. As a key focus of her residency, Hayley initiated 'The Hybrid Project' to produce a polished example of how hybrid design can be used to create in collaboration with others. Throughout the entire filmmaking process we will be working with incredibly talented and highly experienced industry professionals, including Production Designer Tony Noble (Moon) and Editor John Richards (The Prisoner, Doctor Who, Band of Brothers) along with burgeoning new talent to create an exciting and unique film – extending the ‘hybrid’ idea to our filmmaking ethos as well as the design process.
