Welcome!
Welcome to our page! We hope that this page will be useful for the women under our care, women that have been under our care or may be under our care in the near future! We aim to use this page as a platform to share useful information with you all, be it website links or event details, also a platform for the women in our care to possibly connect with other women in their area who may also be pregnant or may also have just had a baby. We want to emphasise the importance of community! We also want you to leave us reviews, tell us what we are doing well and what we could improve as a team, we want to work with you to ensure that the care we are providing is consistently of a very high standard. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Our team are part of the maternity unit at Newham University Hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust), we care for women living in E7, E15 and E20. With E7 and E15 we only care for women living on certain roads, as we share these postcodes with other community teams from Newham University Hospital, we cover the whole of E20!
Women living in E20, we want to make you aware of the services that we provide, as a team we cover the whole of the E20 area, meaning that no matter what hospital you have your baby at, we will be the midwives that you see postnatally, therefore we want to encourage you to look in to having all of your care, from your first antenatal booking appointment, with us, so that instead of only seeing us in the postnatal period we are able to build a relationship with you that continues throughout your whole journey! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at grouppracticemidwives@bartshealth.nhs.uk, we will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you are having your care with our team, you will have a named midwife from the team, they will be your main point of contact throughout your pregnancy and will hopefully see you for all of your antenatal appointments, be this at the hospital, in one of the clinics we run or in the comfort of your own home, when it is not possible for your named midwife to see you for an appointment you will see your buddy midwife. When it is time to have your baby in your chosen delivery location (Home, Barking Birth Centre, Newham Birth Centre or Newham Delivery Suite), we try as far as possible for your named midwife to care for you once you are in established labour and stay with you to deliver your baby, where this may not be possible another member of the team will care for you in labour, alongside your named midwife they will then see you for all of your postnatal appointments (when no members of the team are available to care for you when you are in labour e.g if there is more than 1 client in labour during the night, a member of the core hospital team will care for you and we will see you the following day).
