This is how you build your child’s brain! 💥
This is how their brain learns new skills like paying attention, sitting still, speaking, staying calm.
These are pictures of your brain cells, which are called neurons.
🧠
These three images show what happens in your child’s brain when they learn something new.
Their brain cells actually grow new connections - you can see it in the picture on the right. All those extra little lines everywhere are the new connections.
Evidence of learning! 🤓
But look at the picture on the left and in the middle.
They look almost the same, don’t they!
Think of it as the “messy middle”. When you’ve been doing this new thing, and it doesn’t feel like anything is happening.
You’re still bad at it.
Things like your child not paying attention or listening.
It’s still really hard.
Things like emotional meltdowns and dysregualtion.
But you absolutely have to go through the messy middle to get to the picture on the right, when your brain - or your child’s brain! - has grown, and changed, and can do the new thing easily.
Brains learn and grow through repetition. This is why primitive reflex exercises need to be done daily (with the odd day off when you need to rest!)
Understanding how a child’s brain grows, means you can do the right things, that actually create change.
Your child’s brain CAN learn to do hard things with the right support! 🙌🏼

🙏 Thanks to for the amazing neuron pictures.
(And apologies for the floofy hair! I thought this picture was so great, I could wait to share it! 😆)
