Why you should always warrior πŸ™ŒπŸ½
Comment your favourite !!

Warriors are some of the most common postures in the yoga practice, and for good reason! They’re approachable for most bodies and are less intimidating than some of the more β€˜advanced’ postures while still being great postures for building strength, confidence, and body awareness.

Physical benefits πŸ’ͺ🏽
Most warrior poses are amazing for strengthening + stretching the hamstrings, quadriceps, and glutes, building core power, facilitating the internal rotation of the leg and opening the chest if you perform the posture with an energetic lift of the upper body. Your stabiliser muscles which often get overlooked will be getting a great workout too!

Mental benefits πŸ’
Warriors are incredible for teaching body awareness and increasing the body-mind connection. The internal rotation of the back foot in warrior 1, combined with the squaring of the hips and full plant of the back foot, requires that one has a great perception of where their body is in space.

You’ll be training the mind to stay present and focused during difficult situations, as well as training your mind to relax and release the tensions you don’t need. This pose is all about letting go of mental resistance also.

What is a counter pose and why do we practice them in Yoga πŸ‘‡πŸ½

A counter-pose in yoga is a posture that helps neutralise the body after performing a particular pose. Β Its purpose is to restore balance in the body, help us to avoid injury and imbalances in the body.

To put it simply a counter pose in Yoga is a posture that works the complete opposite to what you have just done, allowing the body to come back into neutral alignment. For example practicing a forward fold or spine flexion after a backbend/spine extension.

Remember that your yoga practice is about creating and maintaining a balance in the body + mind not just doing it for the sake of it!

These are just some examples of counter poses however there are many different variations. Always practice mindfully and feel / think about what happens in the body & mind during and after practicing Yoga πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
