We’re pleased to share our latest newsletter, Shaping the Year Ahead: Growth, Quality and Commitment in End of Life Care.

As we look ahead to 2026, we reflect on strong engagement across health and social care, with more than 150 organisations already registered for accreditation or reaccreditation this year. This reflects a shared commitment to improving quality, consistency and person-centred end of life care.

The newsletter includes updates on new funding to support free Advance Care Planning resources, the appointment of a new Board member, growth in our assessor team, the upcoming launch of our Primary Care Programme, and a full calendar of events for the year ahead.

Today marked the final chapter in our Gold Standards Framework journey. We were absolutely delighted to receive our accreditation plaque, which we have chosen to proudly display in our lobby.

But what does this plaque mean?

💛 It means we have expert systems for planning and meeting resident wishes.
💛 It provides families with peace of mind and comfort.

Huge congratulations to Murrayside care home who won the Palliative & End of Life Care Practice Award at the Scottish Care Awards on Friday.

Murrayside - a Care UK care home were one of the first Scottish Care Homes to become GSF accredited in 2024.

Congratulations to Greensleeves Care on an incredible achievement!

In her recent article for Care Management Matters, GSF Founder and Chair, Professor Keri Thomas, issues a powerful call for urgent action to improve end of life care across the UK.

With an ageing population, most people die from age-related conditions - yet the majority are cared for by frontline generalist teams who often receive little or no specialist training in caring for people in their final years of life.

By 2040, the number of deaths is projected to rise by 25%. Unless we invest in, train, and support this vital workforce, we risk failing thousands of people and families when they need care most.

The Coalition of Frontline Care, co-led by GSF, is urging Government to act now - so that everyone can experience compassionate, coordinated care at the end of life, in the place they choose.
