Posted • 🌟 Straumann's 5th Charity Bike Ride 🌟

This September, .a.good (my all-time favourite clinician - for those who don't know 😂) will be participating in a charity bike ride across Spain, covering 500 miles in 5 days, along with other dentist and Straumann customers.

He is aiming to raise £1500 towards the overall fundraising goal of £75,000 for , which is an incredible organisation that works tirelessly to increase and maintain access to the most vulnerable ones in our community.

The Straumann Charity Bike Ride will help Dentaid purchase a new mobile dental unit , so that more communities can be accessed across the UK.

This year's focus is on loneliness; we certainly remember how we had to isolate during the first wave of the pandemic - with some of us living on our own and barely having any contact with our dear ones.

Have you ever felt alone in a room full of people - people that you are close to?

I recall going to see the fireworks in Central London with a couple of friends, quite a few years ago and just as it started, I felt this crushing sense of loneliness - in a crowd of people who were cheering and hugging one another. This feeling of loneliness was quickly followed by thoughts of

"What is wrong with me?"
"I should be happy - like everyone else here"
"I don't want to be here"

That wasn't the only occasion where I've felt that "I have no one" - I'd felt it for years and I rarely spoke about it.

I'd felt it when I first came to the UK as a young woman, when I first became a mother, when I lost almost everything due to domestic abuse.

Perhaps that's why I had decided to be a Check-in-and-chat volunteer when we all went into lockdown - because someone out there must be feeling like I once felt and I didn't want them to feel like they have no one.

I have struggled with my mental health for years but I have learnt that surrounding myself with people who love me and speaking out about my feelings certainly helps.

It takes a lot to trust someone and open up to them, in the hope we won't be judged; so take the first step and voice out your feelings.

This is 's brand new orthodontic room found on the lower ground floor (replacing our dental laboratory) ; this lovely space is managed and well looked after by our own orthodontist and our ortho nurse ! ❤🔥

So proud of our ⭐️ specialist orthodontist Posted • .richardson66 🇺🇦Pushed myself to my limits yesterday running the for Ukrainian friends🇺🇦. Donation done ✔️Thank you Brighton your cheering along the route was fantastic (“Go Ukraine”!!) & what a beautiful sunny day! That’s it, my last one not running another one ( I promised my running buddy ) Luckily no injuries too as I’d only trained up to half marathon distance in time for this event. Back to work today but think I’ll struggle with the stairs today!

Our Star Invisalign Patient Harry ⭐️ Posted • ⭐️Star patient, Harry (9 years old), wore his aligners brilliantly to:
⚡️stop his thumb sucking habit
⚡️correct his overjet (sticking out teeth) which now has significantly reduced the chance of his front teeth being knocked out or chipped!
⚡️improve the overbite (reduce vertical overlap of teeth)
⚡️increased his self confidence

⭐️No mean feat given that he travels 3 hours by train to see me with his grandmother & that he has stuck to the plan so well whilst coping with ADHD.
⭐️Invisalign First is a fantastic addition to our ability intervene early in mixed dentition cases. ⭐️People assume that children won’t comply with wearing a series of aligners but in fact the research shows this is is not true. Children & teens are very happy wearing aligners as they are so comfortable & it’s so easy to replace an aligner or move to the next one if an aligner is lost!
⭐️Definitive orthodontic treatment will have been simplified by this early intervention & the dental health risk of trauma to Harry’s upper incisors is now hugely reduced at an earlier age.
⭐️contact us if your are concerned about your child’s teeth - it’s never really too early for an orthodontic opinion! Better that problems are picked up early rather than in later years.

Honest feedback from my patient 💕Rukayah💕 who is 8 weeks into her treatment with clear aligners. Now she’s going so well & quarter of the way through!

Having aligners on your teeth, like anything new in your mouth, takes a few days to get used to…I know this from personal experience (as an early adopter of the Invisalign system almost 20 years ago I decided to try Invisalign my own teeth).

This award plaque has had more adventures than me though 🤣; it was at the Awards Ceremony and at one hell of a party in Leicester - which I didn't attend because I was at an study club to learn how to improve my presentation skills. 💁🏻‍♀️

My most heartfelt thanks to the amazing ❤ who messaged me when it was announced that i had won, who received the award on my behalf (I remember you telling me to write a thank you speech 😳) and who retrieved it whilst it decided to go for a wander at the bar, then was so kind to post it to me. Thank you for being part of the rescue team as well ⭐ - that was one of the best IG stories that evening 😂
