🌼 National Gardening Week at Grasmere 🌼

We made the most of the beautiful weather this week, with temperatures reaching a lovely 21°C, by heading out into the garden for some fresh air and gardening.
Our residents enjoyed planting colourful geraniums into pots, getting hands-on and bringing a splash of colour to our outdoor space. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and relaxed.

For some, it was simply a joy to sit in the sunshine, chat with friends, and take in the peaceful surroundings. ☀️
All in all, it was a truly lovely afternoon, filled with smiles, conversation, and a real sense of spring in the air. 🌸

🌼 The Gardening Crew Were Out in Force Today! 🌼

With the sunshine making a welcome appearance, our very own Gardening Crew couldn’t resist heading outdoors to make the most of it ☀️

Armed with pots, soil, and beautiful geraniums, the team got stuck in creating some lovely displays for the home. Hazel, Jean D, and Rosemary led the charge with their green fingers, carefully planting and arranging, while Roy kept spirits high with helpful tips and friendly conversation 🌱

There was plenty of laughter, teamwork, and that simple joy that comes from being outdoors on a beautiful day. A big well done to our Gardening Crew, your efforts are already brightening up our space! 🌸

🇬🇧 UK Day at Grasmere Care Home 🇬🇧

What a wonderful day we’ve had celebrating all things British!

This morning, we took a virtual trip around the United Kingdom, exploring familiar places and sparking lots of lovely conversations and memories. It was fantastic to see so much interest and engagement as residents recognised locations and shared their experiences. We also spent some time learning about St George’s Day and the legend of St George, which brought a touch of history and storytelling to the day.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a quintessential English tea party, complete with tea, cake, and the uplifting sounds of the Proms playing in the background. A perfect way to relax, chat, and soak up the atmosphere together.

All in all, a truly marvellous day filled with smiles, memories, and great company. 🇬🇧✨

Happy St George’s Day 🇬🇧🌹

Today at Grasmere Rest Home, our “Around the World in 12 Months” journey brought us to the UK! We celebrated with tea and cake in the garden, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying some lovely company.

Today at Grasmere, we celebrated World Creativity Day in a wonderfully imaginative way – by writing poetry together! ✍️✨
We started with a fun rhyming warm-up (who knew how many words rhyme with “tea”?), which quickly got everyone’s minds buzzing. Then came the real creativity…
🐕 A humorous poem about walking the dog (with a few creative differences along the way!)
🌷 A lovely, flowing piece about the garden that everyone helped shape
👻 And finally, a slightly spooky but very effective poem called “The Creepy House” – complete with a perfectly timed “Boo!”
With the poems displayed on the big screens, residents could read along, suggest ideas, and even read lines out loud. It became a true team effort, full of laughter, imagination, and some brilliant wordplay.

Today we’ve been getting creative with a lovely UK-themed art afternoon 🇬🇧✨

Residents enjoyed colouring scenes from around the United Kingdom, bringing them to life with bright paints and colour pencils. We also spent time doing one-to-one sessions, making sure everyone could join in at their own pace and in their own way.

It’s been a really vibrant, relaxed afternoon—and as you can see, the results are absolutely stunning! 🎨💛

We are always delighted to welcome our friends from Christchurch Sutton. This Easter, we were especially pleased to be joined by Reverend Phil, alongside Sheila and Nicola, as well as a new friend of Grasmere, Carol.

They led a lovely service for us, followed by tea, chats, and great company all around.
