Shredathon Week

Shredathon Week A Shredathon is when people and businesses bring in paperwork to be shredded for a donation to charity

Watford Shredathon week was the idea of Shredpoint Director Rob Anderson who saw a report on a shredathon going on in the United States and looked further into it and found it was being run by the local sheriff’s office to help people avoid identity theft. Rob ran the first Shredathon in Britain in 2011 which was held on a cold January Saturday morning and raised £500 for the Watford Peace Hospice. In January 2013 the event was held for the first time over a working week including Saturday and raised over £2200 plus a large amount of gift aid. The Shredathon 2014 was again held over six days from Monday 20th of January until Saturday the 25th and once again will be to raise money for the Watford Peace Hospice and raised £2903. In 2015 the sum raised was £2779 and we are hoping to beat these figures this year.
2016 we held two events the week long shredathon for Drum Watford And the peace Hospice and a 'Pop up' shredathon at Mount Vernon Hospital for Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Charitable Trust
Every year since we have held a Shredathon week raising money for local Charities

Our Shredathon Weeks have raised over £25,000 so far and we will continue with them as long as they are supported. The Shredathon is open to the public and small businesses that can have their paper documents shredded including files and folders for a donation to the Hospice. No need to remove staples or paperclips that is all removed during the recycling process. Following pulping the paper is converted into cardboard or paper product and remember for every tonne of paper recycled 17 fully mature trees are saved.
