I delivered mental health training for mangers to the Department for Transport today — and what a day it turned out to be.

The room was engaged, open, curious… there was such an incredible flow. A real contrast to how I’d imagined the day might go.

And then, to top it off, a lovely man at handed me a coffee on the house ☕️ — such a small act, but it meant a lot.

Some days just seem to fall into place (and plenty don’t), but today was a reminder of why it’s always worth showing up. You never quite know what might be waiting around the corner.

Thank you — you truly made my day, along with that very kind Pret barista!

Men’s health matters.

In October, I was back in Glasgow meeting another inspiring group of Hydrosave employees — a company I’ve had the privilege of working with for over five years. Many of the men I met work in very rural parts of Scotland and are passionate advocates for speaking up, making connections, and reminding others that they are not alone.

Su***de remains the biggest killer of young men in the UK. These now-qualified Mental Health First Aiders will make a real difference by helping to reduce stigma, start vital conversations, and support colleagues both on and off the job.

It was encouraging to see Hydrosave continuing to support charities such as Andy’s Man Club and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), reinforcing the message that men’s mental health matters and that help is available.

I left feeling hopeful and encouraged. Real change happens when people are willing to talk — and to listen.

Two incredible days with the Ministry of Justice probation teams and key workers — full of honesty, strength, and heart.

Frontline roles. Heavy mental health exposure. Endless care for others. But who’s caring for them?

This group reminded me: resilience needs rest too.
Your self-care isn’t selfish — it’s your foundation. 💛

More to come.

Mental Health Week
It’s about breaking the stigma.
It’s about being yourself.
It’s about knowing what you need—and honouring that.

Mental health isn’t one-size-fits-all. Let’s keep the conversation open, honest, and human.

Thank you, Newberry College, for the opportunity to learn more about wellbeing and the importance of looking after staff members’ mental health.

It’s vital that we continue these conversations: Are we doing enough to support the wellbeing of teachers and staff? What more can be done?

Let’s keep prioritising mental health in education—not just for students, but for the people who support them every day.

What a pleasure to lead this session for Hydrosave in Glasgow. The power in talking, sharing stories, realising we are not alone. Particularly when it comes to men’s mental health - these men are inspirational by sharing their own stories - how they mange to cope and what helped them - the power of vulnerability, helping others to know they are not alone. Thank you for having me.

Teaching the ALGEE acronym - helpful guide when we don’t know what to say. Mental health can’t be seen so it’s hard sometimes to know how to help. ALGEE gives you the confidence to open up and ask “how are you really”
