Life can sometimes become too heavy to carry alone.

I’m Lordia Lewis-Spencer, an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist, and clinical supervisor working with adults and young people across Kent and online.

Therapy offers a space to pause, breathe, and begin to make sense of what’s been difficult to carry — somewhere you can speak freely and start to find your balance again.

🌿 If you’d like to talk things through, I offer a free 20-minute consultation — simply message or call to arrange a time that suits you

Every scar carries a story, but it doesn’t have to define you.

When we sit with the pain, we find the lessons hidden inside it. That’s where strength begins — when wounds become wisdom.

“Therapy for the mind, lipstick for the soul — sometimes we simply need both."

What’s your go to trick', or just 'a little pick-me-up' when you need that confidence boost?

👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼 ....... hey y'all, its been awhile .

But wanted to share with you, that when I am experiencing a difficult emotion such as fear, frustration, grief, or simply just feeling overwhelmed, I don’t push it away. Well atleast I try not to.

I try to acknowledge and compassionately accept that difficult emotion, because it gives me an opportunity to get to understand myself and in turn know me better.

You see..... when I am able to extent compassion towards myself, I am also then better able to extend the same to my clients and others.

Currently, I am going through such big transitional period in my life, that practicing self compassion and extending kindness towards myself is paramount.

Giving birth to twins, via emergency Cesarean section, sleepless nights, buying a house and moving home, etc etc.. all within two months, has all the ingredients for postpartum depression. (🙈 just to list a few)

So yes, I am acknowledging that 'It's Time To Talk' as one method of expressing self compassion.

Talking can be powerful in helping me self-sooth, in helping me getting to know what is taking place within me, as I process these emotions and learn to ask for help when needed.

So how have you all shown self compassion during these big transitions?

❓❓❓... Come on, share some nuggets, tips and tricks with this new mummy on 'the block' 🤪

♦️♦️ I encourage others to look within and choose their own path. Not because someone is succeeding at what they are doing, doesn't mean it's for you .

It's quite normal to admire others and their achievements, but choosing to always jump ship to do what the next person is doing, will just make you 'Jack of all trades, master of none". Hence, spending all your time and energy in fruitless pursuits.

When you are busy pursuing what's not meant for you, you will continuously feel unfulfilled and eventually lose momentum on said pursuit. Remember, you will never be successful on someone else's path.

Be original, look within and find your purpose. Only then you will find peace.

And for me, this view right here, feels like home.

I have come to learn that the question “where are you from?” is a very popular conversation starter.

It’s almost like a script everyone is required to recite whenever they come across another person on vacation.

For me, 'where are you from?' is a very easy question to answer.

However, when the question is “where is home?” I often stop. And pause. And think. Because as the time passes the answer to this question feels much more layered for me.

In my profession, often working with vulnerable persons, I now appreciate the importance of feeling "emotionally safe' and the role it plays in what 'home' means for many.

So, it has got me reflecting on the concept of 'home'. As It is often said that 'home is a feeling not place'

Do you agree?

What are your thoughts on this? What does home mean to you ?
