3 Things Your Physio Wants You To Know Before Sunday π
2 days out. Here's what our Physiotherapist Dimitri wants every London Marathon runner to know before race day.
Tip 1 - Don't try anything new.
New shoes, new gels, new stretching routine, leave it. If your body hasn't practised it, race day is not the day to experiment.
Tip 2 - Pace yourself early.
Most race injuries happen in the first 10K when the adrenaline takes over. Go out too fast and your body pays for it by mile 18. Trust your training pace.
Tip 3 - If you feel sharp pain, stop.
This is the big one. A ni**le you push through becomes an injury that keeps you out for months. Sharp pain is your body's warning signal, listen to it.
