What are the main cards and or energies for the world and or current events for this week of October 23, 2022, to October 29, 2022?
The Cards:
Mother
Liberation
The Beast
Well, this looks to be an interesting week and with some rather appropriate cards as we move toward the holiday of Halloween. It appears that we are moving into a slight swing back towards what I call “outward” energies again, which makes sense. But we still have some protection and even sort energies, especially towards the start of the week. More on that later, first let’s look at the cards.
The Mother Card is a friendly and protective card that shows a young mother with her three children. She is seated on a large and comfortable wicker chair. She has a baby on her back, a little girl on her lap, and an older boy holding her hand who is also protective of his sister.
The main colors on the card are the sky blue and pale green of the background, the warm brown of the chair, and the blue, green, and red clothing of the humans, all of whom have brown hair, except the baby who is hairless (and can barely be seen).
This card is all about Mothers, maternal feelings, a mother’s protection, and a mother’s love. In international or current events readings, it is often a Mother-identified country like “Britannia, Mother Russia, or Lady Liberty.” The card’s downsides can be overprotection and smothering. But usually, this is a good card, especially in a personal reading, a good week for drawing in towards the family, nurturing oneself and those close to us, and a great week for kids.
The Liberation Card has shown up before, it shows the young couple escaping a castle prison on horseback and escaping in an unexpected direction, a less obvious path. The card has bolder colors than the pastels of the Mother Card, with strong brick reds, yellows, bright greens, deep blue water, a stone grey bridge, and a brown wooden door.
As the Middle Card, I am getting the sense that this is an “energy shift” that is likely to occur midweek when something starts leading people to focus
outward from the protective maternal inward energies to a sudden break out of wilder and more excitable energy. Early in the week will be a good time for introspection and taking care, and the middle of the week will be a time to be ready to break out and do the opposite. A good time to break free of bad or old habits that no longer work, and also a time when teenagers and rebels of all ages will tend to want to break out of their current patterns and start out with something new. A good time to look for a new job, a new apartment, a new hairstyle, or tackle a new project or hobby. Just remember to try and catch your breath and be careful not to go out too far because the last card suggest that freedom can sometimes be a bit more than we bargained for.
The Beast Card, which I sometimes call The Dragon, is a mostly red card showing a furious giant lizard or dragon coming out behind a door into a hallway. The dragon’s mouth is open and you can see an angry tongue and teeth, ready to attack.
The walls and hallway are a reddish brown, The Beast itself is mostly deep red with back marks for scales and it has two horns on its head. In most readings, the Beast represents all those dark, angry, selfish, fearsome, terrified, and difficult emotions that all human beings have, but that most learn to limit their expression after age three or so. A two-year-old throwing a flailing tantrum is cute, but we expect adults not to act that way, at least not in public. The thing is we all have these emotions, and while it isn’t a good idea to express them fully all the time, attempting to totally ignore them or bury them can cause them to burst out of that hallway when we least expect it and rage about our lives.
The Beast can also be a rather nasty boomerang effect from too much “Liberation” of the sort that happens too fast. A Joyful breakout towards new ideas or embracing needed change is one thing, going “Dragon” wild and jumping out of a protected situation (The Mother Card) without looking for the right escape route (Liberation gone too far) can result in letting out the Beasts.
This is the sort of week that teenager rebellion is likely to be a theme, but it also fits on the lighter side with the idea of Halloween. When children and even some adults dress up as monsters, beasts, and other nightmares; traditionally they tell ghost stories and celebrate the weird, the scary, and the supernatural. Almost all human cultures have some holiday or ritual dedicated to this sort of exploration and acknowledgment of the spooky side of life and death.
To conclude, this is likely to be a rather spirited week; one that gets off to a rather slow but comfortable start but may morph quickly into something a bit wilder and confrontational. Do your best to go with the flow when things start moving but pay attention and make sure to take the right bridge out and, when you see The Beast, remember this is his time period so be careful of your emotions because it will be easy for them to get out of hand.
And be friendly to all the little ghosts, goblins, witches, and monsters you encounter this week; they are getting their first lessons in coping with the world of the shadow.
That’s it for this week!
Have a great (and supernatural) week
