So I have just added some monthly online training clinic dates for from now until December.
I have been doing these for a year now, and feel am getting the measure of how to do them well. They are not right for everyone - but for many the online aspect means I can see patients from anywhere with internet access. And the student input can deliver a genuine multidisciplinary element. Students always have their cameras off during a consultation , but can contribute to research and discussions around prescription and strategies. Herbal students come from many walks of life; they may have had previous careers in nursing, general practice or other healthcare modalities; they may have training in pharmacy, psychology or bodywork. They may bring insight from their own journeys with health and medicine. Of course I am leading and having the final say on all diagnostic and prescription decisions, but the collective input brings a richness that can really add value to each consultation.
If you feel you would like to experience a herbal medicine consultation , and feel happy to share your journey with the herbalists of the future, please do consider booking yourself in for an appointment.

So of these four plants with umbel shaped flowers - one is poisonous, one is commonly foraged as food, two ( well actually three) have a traditional use as medicine. Three belong in the Apiaceae family ( that used to be know as the Umbelliferae family) and one is entirely unrelated to the others. Do you know your hog w**d from your Hemlock? Post your answers in the thread below ! And hoping to see some of you for the medicinal plant walk on Tottenham marshes this Sunday.

So I am planning a series of guided medicinal plant walks, monthly on Sundays on Tottenham Marshes. Am looking forward to the repetition through the seasons and stretching that sense of connection to and understanding of our local flora. First one is this Sunday , meet 11 am at Waterside Café.

I am doing a guided medicinal plant walk! It's been ages! Tottenham marshes this Sunday the 9th. Meet at 11am at Waterside Cafe , Stonebridge Lock. Many plants are fading back, and the leaves are dropping- but this October perspective brings a chance to see some things more clearly, and go get a sense of our terrain. The walk is free, but donations to the Swan Sanctury glady accepted. Will love to see you!

The leaves are falling and the plants are fading back- but there is still lots to see, and the October perspective gives a sense of the terrain. Come on down! The walk is free, although donations to the Swan Sanctuary appreciated.

Slightly late posting of this month's newsletter......"being a girl who loves football is a bit like being a herbalist who loves medicine...."

Lammas is that moment in the summer when we are already six weeks past the summer Solstice. The weeks have flashed by, schools have broken up, the grain harvests are in and the land is parched. Historically it was the moment when common land – for example the fertile marshland of the Lea basin - mo...

Newsletter for Spring Equinox 2022. Thinking about the Olive tree :

As a child growing up in the seventies, olives were very exotic and sophisticated; Olive oil was a luxury well into my adulthood. But now, I enjoy the luxury that they both feel very everyday.
