Autism acceptance starts with embracing authenticity.
Many autistic young people are showing us what works for them, building their own ‘toolbox’ of coping strategies to help them thrive, not just cope.
Parent carers, you’re not alone in figuring this out. Whether it’s routines, sensory supports, or ways to self-regulate, these aren’t things to ‘fix’. They are strengths and supports that help your child or young person navigate the world in their own way.
There is no one-size-fits-all, and it’s okay to learn as you go.
As we move beyond awareness toward true acceptance, it’s about listening, learning, and creating spaces where our young people feel safe to be exactly who they are.
Because acceptance isn’t about changing them, it’s about changing our understanding.
