Brahma Kumaris Global Co-operation House

Brahma Kumaris Global Co-operation House This enabled us to develop a wider range of activities to bring spirituality and Raja Yoga meditation to various sectors of the community.

Our Introduction

Global Co-operation House is the London home of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, serving as its national co-ordinating office for the whole of the United Kingdom. After moving from humble beginnings from two damp small rooms in Kilburn, to larger dwellings in Willesden and a community centre in Neasden, finally, the BKWSU UK was able to achieve a purpose-built facility, completed in 1991. The house has become a familiar landmark in the area, offering a place of calm for in and around London. The house quickly became a focal point of the international Brahma Kumaris community and has attracted visitors from most of the 110 countries where we have activities, making it truly a house of global co-operation. In fact, the house itself was built with the voluntary financial contributions of students and teachers from all over the world. From the abundance of murals and artwork to the exhibition spaces to the musical and written offerings in the bookshop, there are constant ever-present reminders of the important place that Global Co-operation House, holds within the international community. We practice and teach a form of meditation that relaxes the mind and promotes a healthy balance between our inner and outer worlds. Our free self-development courses, aim to uplift, teach and guide participants along their spiritual journey. An Evening with Professor James Mallinson: Illuminating the Hatha Yoga Pradipika

A deeply insightful evening unfolded at The Nehru Centre as Professor James Mallinson of the University of Oxford shed light on one of the most important early texts on Hatha Yoga — the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

Professor Mallinson shared the historical roots of the text, its author Svātmārāma, and the meaning of pradipika — “that which casts light.”
He beautifully explained how the text goes far beyond physical postures, presenting Hatha Yoga as a complete inner discipline involving:
• breath
• energy channels
• mental focus
• purification

He emphasised that Hatha Yoga is presented as the foundation for Raja Yoga, preparing the body and mind for meditation, stillness and higher awareness.

The session also highlighted the importance of creating an accurate critical edition of the manuscript, so modern readers can access the teachings clearly and authentically.

It was an evening where deep scholarship met spiritual clarity — reminding us that Yoga is ultimately a journey of inner transformation, not mere physical practice.

Mitzvah Day - faith-led day of social action - at Alyth Reform Synagogue, where people of different faiths got together to help prepare soup for Alyth’s Big Soup Serve project now in its 20th year. The soup was going to be served the next day at the Monday club and also frozen to keep for the night shelter next month for people who are homeless. People of six different faiths took part, including Rt Revd Dr Anderson Jeremiah, Bishop of Edmonton, Fauzia Saeed of Muslim World League London Office, Rabbi Hannah Kingston and Laura Marks from Alyth, Padideh Sabeti from the Bah’ai community, Rachel Priestman from Global Co-operation House and others. A really lovely evening doing something practical together whilst enjoying each others’ company.

Honouring Remembrance Day at City Hall, London

Sister Dipti and Sister Rachel attended a moving Annual Remembrance Day Service at City Hall, London, hosted by the Greater London Authority, London Assembly, and the City Hall Branch of the Royal British Legion.

The ceremony brought together people of all faiths and backgrounds — including representatives of the Armed Forces, faith communities, public service, reservists, cadets, borough mayors, and London government leaders.

The service featured heartfelt readings, interfaith prayers, and hymns, followed by the two-minute silence at 11am and a wreath-laying ceremony.

The London International Gospel Choir gave stirring performances of “They Shall Not Grow Old” and “You Raise Me Up.”
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, read “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae, and The Right Reverend Lynne Cullens, Bishop of Barking, reminded all of “the chilling, devastating cost of war — 75 million lives across World War II alone. Today we remember the price paid for our peace.”

Let us continue to keep peace alive — in our hearts, our homes, and our world.

At Global Cooperation House London, Brahma Kumaris UK recently hosted a deeply inspiring Global Ethical Stocktake dialogue, bringing together a beautifully diverse community — from organisations like the Yoko Forum and Harrow Interfaith, to individuals of different faiths and generations including Jainism, Christianity, food advocacy groups, and young changemakers.

Participants reflected on key questions proposed by the COP30 Presidency, sharing heartfelt insights on ethics, sustainability, and our shared responsibility for the planet.

The dialogue concluded with a soulful space of poetry, gratitude, prayer, and meditation, uniting everyone in peace and purpose.
