Today, Band of Brothers CIC continued our pledge against ending Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), marking 'White Ribbon Day', by working collaboratively to ensure every woman feels safe, respected and supported in our community, by attending the Sutton Women’s Safety Charter event.

We stood alongside community partners to promote safety, accountability and positive action. It was encouraging to see some committed organisations and individuals advocating for positive change.

Today marked a fantastic and positive step forward, as a collective of men open up the conversation on how we can collaboratively keep women and girls across Sutton safe.

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) isn't just a "women's issue" - it's a societal one. Men play a big part in reshaping our community to be safer for Women and Girls, by calling out misogynistic and harmful views, adjusting poor attitudes and standing against sexual harassment and coercive/non-consensual behaviour.

It was inspiring to see a number of White Ribbon ambassadors under one roof, hearing from Councillors, local Businesses, Charities, Non-Profits and residents, across a variety of demographics speaking about the many ways we can all contribute to creating a safer community. Band of Brothers CIC believe men have a responsibility to be part of the solution.

As part of our exciting partnership between Band of Brothers CIC and Sutton Womens Centre, we're proud to share that our team have officially completed the 'Ask Me' Ambassador training, starting conversations within the Sutton community, around Domestic Abuse/Violence.

This programme has strengthened the understanding of the challenges many men and women face in silence and equipped us with the skills to:

🔹 Start supportive, stigma-free conversations
🔹 Recognise when someone may be struggling
🔹 Offer safe, empathetic routes to further support
🔹 Encourage openness, resilience, and connection
🔹 Challenge negative mindsets and behaviours
🔹 Be a more proactive 'bystanders' in our community

We believe Men’s Mental Health really matters — and meaningful change starts with honest conversations. We're committed to being a safe space, raising awareness and helping to break the stigma surrounding men’s wellbeing.

If you ever need someone to talk to, or want to learn more about the initiative, our door is always open. 💙

Band of Brothers CIC are excited to be working in collaboration with a number of fantastic organisations across Sutton Council— including Sutton Womens Centre; an established organisation supporting women across our local community, particularly those surviving domestic and sexual abuse.

Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting their incredible team and learning more about the values that drive their work, the challenges they face, and how, after over 30 years, they continue to make such a meaningful impact. Our nearly three-hour meeting was filled with rich conversation about how we can support one another, share important messages and expand our collective vision even further.

We’re incredibly proud to be building meaningful connections with other committed locals, helping us reach more men holistically within our community — offering safe, supportive spaces where they can talk, connect, and grow together. It’s always inspiring to connect with others who share our passion for men’s mental health and our vision for stronger, more compassionate communities.

A huge thank you to everyone at Sutton Women’s Centre for your warm welcome and the mean coffees — and, of course, to Sutton Soup for facilitating and supporting these powerful networking opportunities. Without you, these collaborations wouldn’t be possible. 💙🫶🏻

Remembrance Sunday

Today we pause to honour those who served, those we lost, and those who came home carrying battles no one could see.

For many men - veterans and civilians alike - grief, trauma and silence can sit heavily today. If this is a difficult moment for you, you’re not alone. Strength isn’t found in holding everything in; it’s found in speaking honestly and reaching for support when you need it.

Take a moment. Reach out to someone. Check in on a mate. We remember them - and we look after the living, too.
