☀️Hello everyone☀️

🌷It’s been a long time since I last posted in May. But life happened and I needed to simplify. Something that is important to recognise and something I am still learning to do.

🌷I have spent the last 6 weeks off from work to really recharge my batteries, and I am now ready to see clients again and start planning my new projects.

🌷Things to look out for:
I have 3 new groups coming up
🌻 The Mixed Race Experience Support Group
🌻 Parents of Mixed Race Children Support Group
🌻A Therapeutic Writing Group (open for all)

📌If you are interested in joining any of the above groups feel free to contact me and I can contact you closer to the time. If you know anyone that may be interested feel free to share with them.

🧷All groups will be a place where you can connect with peers and share your experiences.

Thanks for sticking around
If you have any questions send me a message or email
Warm wishes
Danielle 🌻

It may look like:
🌷Avoiding people
🌷Realising we don’t like someone or something
🌷We may feel lonelier than usual

It can be a scary experience and speaking to someone close to you or a therapist can help as you navigate the new world you are creating and the person you are becoming.

Finding things we do like doing, is important as we shed our old selves as it can help us to create a sense of familiarity whilst bringing joy into our lives.

Keep growing. Keep moving forward. Take one step at a time as you settle into the person you are becoming and getting to know.

For any therapists thinking of running groups. This is what I did and it was amazing. So helpful. Worth doing for sure.

🖐🏼 Are you a therapist who likes the idea of running a group? I remember being told that trying to find enough suitable and committed participants for a group would be hard for a practitioner in private practice.

I haven't found this to be true. Groups are an incredible way of making therapeutic help more accessible to people; the demand is there and group therapy is one of the most satisfying parts of my work as a therapist.

If you are a therapist or counsellor who likes the idea of running groups, but you’re not sure where to start, this course will give you the tools and confidence you need to get your group off the ground. Via a combination of presentations, discussion and Q&As by the end of the course you will

✅ Create a clearer vision of the kind of group you'd like to run
✅ Have an understanding of the pitfalls of group work online and how to manage boundaries and ethical concerns
✅ Be able to identify key questions to ask when figuring out whether your group is going to work for potential clients
✅ Learn how to communicate the value of your group to prospective participants and discover easy ways to spread the word to 1000s of people for little or no cost

The course runs over two Sunday mornings (11th and 18th April 2021) from 9am-12noon.

🎟 Tickets cost £97 and are available here https://thebingeeatingtherapist.com/product/setting-up-groups-in-private-practice-cpd-course-april-2021/

Tamara Howell and Sarah Dosanjh have teamed up together to bring you this comprehensive course for getting your online group up and running. Tamara has worked tirelessly helping therapists prepare for online working and Sarah currently has four therapy groups running in her private practice.

💛Happy Sunday everyone? 💛
What’s your favourite roast dinner? I think mine would have to be chicken or lamb.
I love a good roast potato and a homemade gravy. Lots of veg. If all the family is round Mac and cheese will also be involved.

What’s yours? Let me know in the comments😋

⭐️As we draw closer to the UK census deadline for 2021, I thought I would share this.⭐️

👩🏽‍🦱I found this fact out in 2008. I was discovering my Mixed Race identity and was writing a spoken word piece about Mixed Race identity that would be for a spoken word poetry slam with theme of Respect.
When I discovered this fact it had only been in place for 7 years, so it really stuck out for me.

✅Being able to tick a form that describes your ethnic origin without have to tick 2 boxes so one half of you isn’t left out or tick the ‘other’ box because nothing describes you, was and still is important to me. It allowed me to feel seen and a part of society.

🇺🇸When I went to America to work at a summer camp it felt strange seeing on the social security form white, African American, Latino etc as none of them were me. I didn’t fit there. I remember having to tick multiple boxes.
Biracial wasn’t a term that was included then, and I’m not sure if it is now on forms there.

Leave a 👍🏽 if you knew this and a 👎🏽 if this is the first time you’re learning this.

🌷It’s international women’s day today and I have collected a few quotes that mean something to me.

🐺Author Clarissa Pinkole Estés who wrote “women who run with the Wolves” quote resonates with me and who I feel I am as woman and the world I am in. I am a wolf woman. I am wild and I am a person who will run into the fire.

👩🏻‍⚖️Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is such a powerful woman (RIP) she did so much for women in the US justice system and was a force to be reckoned with. She did not just accept how things were. She chose to make a change. Her documentary is worth watching and on Netflix.

👩🏾‍💼Michelle Obama is just pure inspiration and I look forward to reading her book becoming. She’s seems like a gentle soul, yet still powerful.

👩🏽‍🦱As a woman I feel it’s important we have voices, we are able to express ourselves and who we want to be and who we are. Our identity is so important and I feel it’s part of our happiness. If we restrict ourselves how can we truly be happy and comfortable with who we are.

☀️Share in the comments a quote, what being a woman means to you or an emoji(s) that describes you and womanhood.
