We often experience unwanted, intrusive and impulsive thoughts. These thoughts can become even louder while meditating.
We can use meditation to recognise, acknowledge those thoughts and make a conscious decision as to how we choose to handle those thoughts in our daily lives.
Do I want to let go of those thoughts?
Do I want to carry on engaging with those thoughts?
What would the exact opposite thoughts be like and feel like ?

Smiling away our troubles! Wise reminder πŸ’–

Through every trial we grow. And the suffering we experience has a meaning. Though it seems very cruel, it is like fire that smelts the iron ore: the steel that emerges from that furnace is beautifully strong, useful for many purposes. The steel of wisdom that we forge out of the searing fire of trails - that is something marvelous. The Lord is refining away the dross in us, so that we can live in this world as pure, steel-like souls, able to bend without breaking under the pressure of our difficult experiences. We should not lose sight of that truth. There is purpose behind everything that happens under the sun.

Yoga can be used as a non verbal healing methodology. By engaging the mind and the body non verbally through gestures, postures, eye gaze during yoga practice we can explore how movement and breath can give access to underrepresented self states and experiences that are deeply coded within our being. Yoga is a journey into the human spirit and consciousness itself.

Yoga is not just a physical practice, it is a meditative, contemplative and a spiritual practice.
Beyond the physical poses and postural alignment, and their many benefits on our bones, muscles, joints, cardio, respiratory and neuro muscular systems, and mental and emotional states, the practice of yoga increases awareness of our more subtle spiritual and energetic nature.
It takes time for our brains to acknowledge the subtle energies of our bodies, for our brains are more conditioned to recognise the physical and the tangible. But rest assured that as you keep focusing your awareness inwards which is the core teaching of yoga, you will experience increased spiritual awareness turning your yoga practice into a deep exploration of your human spirit and consciousness.

Today is mental health day, a good opportunity to remind us to be kind and gentle on ourselves and reflect on how we cultivate kindness and gentleness. When you step on your yoga mat, don't hesitate to bring these qualities in your practice. Always practice yoga with kindness, gentleness, compassion and love for yourself, for your body, for your mind and for your soul. Don't push, don't force anything, be gentle on your bones and muscles and nurturing to your thoughts and feelings.
