Prevention is always better than a
cure.
Inspect Feet Daily: Check for blisters, lumps, changes in skin color or flakey skin. Use a mirror to see the soles. For example verrucas found early are much easier to treat.
Prioritize Hygiene: Wash feet daily & dry thoroughly, especially between toes to prevent fungal infections like athlete’s foot. If left this infection can spread into your nails.
Trim Nails Carefully: Trim nails straight across and not too short. Incorrect nail cutting can cause ingrowing nails.
Wear Supportive Shoes: Choose footwear with a wide toe box. Ideally replace running shoes every 300 - 500 miles to maintain cushioning. Make sure your running shoes support you properly and you have no gait or postural problems that may cause problems.
Don't Ignore Pain: Pain in your feet, ankles, legs or hips should be treated as a "red flag".
It can be caused by a variety of things including an injury, over training, an illness, arthritis or poor gait. If you're not sure of the cause or treatment seek expert advice.
