Today is International Angelman Day
Angelman syndrome is a rare genetic condition caused by changes on chromosome 15. It affects the nervous system and can impact speech, movement, balance and learning. Children with Angelman syndrome experience the world and express themselves in unique ways.
Genetic syndromes are simply differences in our DNA. They may influence development, coordination or communication, but they never define a child’s spirit, potential or personality.
A diagnosis describes a medical condition.
It does not describe a child.
In our 1:1 swimming lessons for children with special needs, we look at ability, not disability. We do not decide in advance what a child can or cannot achieve. We create the space, the safety and the belief, and we let them surprise us.
Every child deserves the chance to flourish. And in water, many find freedom, strength and confidence they didn’t know they had.
In water, labels fade and ability rises!
