We do lots of mobility work, stretches & postures with the help of props, chair to make Yoga accessible for these beautiful ladies who are in their late 60’s and 70’s

Symphony in practice
As a teacher, it’s about how well one can bring balance in the class, bringing everyone on the same page and yet giving everyone something extra to suit their body, their taste so that at the end of the session everyone feels there was something for them in that session.

In my classes, that’s what I provide- symphony, balance, challenge with a feel good factor in a comfortable, cosy space catering small group.

Wishing you all a very Happy 10th International Yoga Day!!!

This marks 6 years I have completed as a teacher , teaching yoga in London, and in this time I have taught more than 250 people who got onto the mat for the first time in 30’s, 40’s, 50’s or even beyond.
These beginners have incorporated Yoga in their life & its their persistence & determination to continue it for months & for years.
Teacher training didn’t equip me with teaching complete beginners, I still remember when I asked the question in my 500 hours training how to balance classes when there is someone who just doesn’t know anything and starting from scratch. I got the response that when a person joins yoga they generally know what they are getting into & would have done some basic research.
Unfortunately or fortunately, I have got majority of beginners who didn’t even know what downward dog is , seeing all these bodies have not made me an expert in dealing and troubleshooting all their pains & troubles, but it has definitely equipped me to give them a good foundation in their practice, to tell them to listen to their bodies and make postures work for them.
I had made mistakes, & myself who is not an expert, but this didn’t stop me in my journey & changing lives for many. I had grown & evolved and there was & still is a learning curve for me but what I have specialised in all this time is how to make yoga work for complete beginners.

Last class of 2023 resting in Shavasana, thanks everyone for joining me for my classes this year.

So many of my old students continued and are supporting me from years. Big thanks to them.

I have gotten to know lots of new students and it feels good to be of some help to them by bringing yoga into their lives or giving them a headstart, a foundation in their practice.

Makes learning a new skill pleasant & joyous, makes you accountable, disciplined as when one is backing then other is motivating & encouraging.

If you think you can’t survive together in one class , then learning same skill even in different classes opens up more prospects that you two can practice together, evolve together & developing a new interest together to talk about it over your dinner table.

Any relationship, friendship can thrive only when it can survive ups & down as life is not smooth either ; is straightforward without any veil where its good to talk with each other rather than behind each other ; when one goes down other pulls you up rather than put you down ; where in world of superficiality all around reality is seen ; where you have that faith you won’t be judged for every small thing or action then that relationship is called as True Relationship & true friendship else one is just wasting time.

Mum & Daughter duo, while mum is super flexible and loves yoga as she has done yoga as a child along with her mum, and now the same love is being passed onto next generation.
This legacy is not built in one day it requires lot of patience, determination, perseverance & discipline both for parent & child where that love pulls each other up higher & higher.

Giving a right foundation to our children at right age is specially need for hour when social media, AI, eating outs, party friends, superficial relationships, diet fads, zero size, stresses, anxieties is taking over its much greater need of the hour to give something to our children to make them feel balanced, grounded, nourished, something they can return to; to have that connection with their body, mind & soul ; to introspect & reflect while outside world feels turbulent ; to introduce them to that inner voice ; working on inside out ; giving them memories of quality time spent together & instilling strong values of discipline, determination & consistency.

Working with headstand in classes.

Headstand comes with lots of known benefits like boosting blood circulation, oxygen levels , stimulating and regulating endocrine glands like pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, pineal but at the same time it requires more awareness around cervical spine specially due to modern lifestyle which has made cervical spine weak due to persistent flexion of neck.

So practice it with care, caution, maybe not often and gauging if its creating or adding to tension in neck, spine.
If not, keep practicing as its called as king of pose for some reason.

A journey back to roots.

My yoga journey began very early at age of 10 when we used to get up in the morning at 5 and our yoga teacher used to come at 6 and used to teach us Yoga, neti, and kunjal before going to school.

Being a child of naturopath parents, I was being raised in environment where I knew the significance of food, yoga and meditation on the body. Healing power that lies within the body and how with proper diet , nutrition and positive attitude our body can do miracles.

Its a very common sight that how without resorting to medications for every ailment diseases can be cured even naturally and how we can boost our immunity (Dad used to call it army of body) and how Yoga can connect us from within and bring harmony between mind, body and soul.

I was being carried away from the yogic path for years after having full responsibilities of marriage, settling and resettling abroad in various countries and cities and kids thereafter , settling my business and soon after I developed hypothyroid and got so much engulfed in it that there were days when I could see no coming back but at the same time I had pledged to myself not to heed to medications for this and will rather cure it naturally but was continuously procrastinating.
