*** NEW - Qigong for absolute beginners online class ***

I'm now teaching online via Zoom, and am starting a new class for absolute beginners on Tuesday mornings at 10am - all welcome!

Qigong (or ‘chi kung’) is a traditional Chinese practice which brings together gentle movements, breathing exercises and meditation to support good health and increase a sense of calm and wellbeing.

This will be a one hour long class where I'll introduce and explain some basic qigong exercises, and start teaching the 'Shibashi Set 1' qigong form from the beginning. No experience or special equipment necessary, you do not need to be fit or flexible, and qigong can be done sitting or standing - whatever is most comfortable for you.

Classes are offered on a donation basis.

Here is the link to a description, more information, and to register to join the classes, in case you feel to join me or share this:

*** Covid-19 Update ***

Dear all,

After much research and reflection, I've decided to cancel all qigong and yoga classes next week (week commencing Monday 16th March), and possibly for longer, depending on how things unfold.

Many of us who regularly attend classes are in the high risk category for Covid-19, and some of us have vulnerable loved-ones in our lives. It feels important to me to do everything I can to ensure I do not contribute to spreading or enabling the spread of the disease.

Although the UK government have not introduced significant social distancing measures yet, and the Chief Medical Adviser has recently spoken of the role of herd immunity in the UK's approach, which would require 60% or more of the population to catch the disease, I am concerned that the rates of serious illness and death from this virus are very much higher for older people and anyone with a weakened immune system or existing health condition and I do not wish to take any risks which might endanger or affect any of you.

The reported number of cases seems to be growing at an increasing rate, and the actual number of undiagnosed cases may be very much higher. London is the UK region with the highest number of reported cases, and as I travel for over an hour, using train and tube to get to WLBC, there is an increasing chance that I could be exposed to the virus on the tube, and then possibly spread it onwards.

Instead of in-person classes, I'd like to offer online practice, on the same days and at the same times, so that we can still be together and practice together, from home with no need to expose ourselves to possible infection.

It would be lovely if I'm being overly cautious and things settle down soon, but I'd rather be too cautious than risk harm to anyone's health. I will keep reviewing research and information as things develop, and I'll be in touch with any further changes or news.

I would be very grateful if you could pass this message onto anyone you know who attends classes, to get the message out to as many as possible - thank you very much.

Please let me know if you're interested in having a go at getting together online and I'll have a look into what's possible and let you know.

With love and all wishes for your well-being,
Maymay x
