New blog on our website 🏡

Action on Disability has submitted a response to the Government consultation on proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). In our response, we highlight the urgent shortage of accessible and wheelchair-accessible housing and why stronger national standards are needed to ensure Disabled people can live independently.

With thousands of wheelchair users waiting for suitable homes and many more living in inaccessible housing, accessible design must be a core part of future housing policy — not an afterthought.

Read our full response on our website in the link below to learn what changes we’re calling for and why accessible housing is essential for inclusive communities.

We’re looking for friendly volunteers to support our Reception at the Centre for Independent Living. You’ll help welcome visitors, answer phone calls, check emails, and record information in our Salesforce CRM – playing a key role in making sure everyone who visits feels supported.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. With your help, we can reach even more Deaf and Disabled people and continue delivering life-changing services.

Our Centre for Independent Living opened in August 2022 and is a welcoming, supportive space – and we’d love you to be part of it.

If you want to apply or find out more – email info@aod.org.uk
