We have been in and out of lockdown for over a year and it has taken its toll.

The pandemic has created an unusual amount of space, putting a magnifying glass on our feelings with nowhere to hide.

Is now the time to use these feelings to better understand ourselves, before the world opens up again?

The irony is, I've been thinking about this topic for weeks now, I just couldn't find the motivation to write about it.

I hope this helps you to feel less alone in your frustration.

I don't know about you, but I am struggling with the January/ back to work blues today.

I recently wrote a piece about hope about expectation in 2021: https://link.medium.com/JIgJTh3GFcb.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

This past weekend I've found myself sleeping lots, then giving myself a hard time for not starting 2021 in the way I had envisaged, and then reminding myself to take it easy on myself. I think the full weight of the past year may take a little longer to fully hit us.

If you have found that your year so far hasn't kicked off in the way that you excepted it to, that's okay. If all you've managed to do is catch up on sleep, finish leftover chocolate from Christmas and not get started on your resolutions, that is also okay. You are not the only one!

Let's not just consider lowering our expectations on 2021 but also on ourselves. It was a tough year and let's remember to be kind to ourselves going into this one. We've still got a lot to contend with.

Happy New Year!

Friday reminder. Overthinking is common when we have fewer distractions. It's also more likely to occur when we're feeling less connected to our loved ones and start to question ourselves and our relationships.

Thoughts can feel so powerful and all consuming. But they are just words in your head. This phrase has helped me gain perspective when I find myself overthinking. I hope it does the same for you.

Happy Friday ☀️🍂

Acceptance of uncomfortable feelings is hard; it can feel easier to push them away. Unfortunately the more you do - the stronger they return.

Try to sit with your feelings today. Empathise with yourself. Your feelings are valid, and it's okay to feel them.

Happy Wednesday.

A helpful reminder on Monday morning from my new favourite book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by .

The days are getting shorter and colder, and there is increased anxiety as we fear a second lockdown.

We don't know what the next few months will bring. It can just help to remember - all we can do is take one step at a time.
