🌍 Clinica London on the global stage

Professor Jane Olver was honoured to represent Clinica London and the International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye (ISD-DE) as an Invited Lecturer at the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress 2026 in Hong Kong.

Jane chaired a specialist session on the human lacrimal drainage system, bringing together leading international experts to discuss modern approaches to managing watering eyes - from eyelid laxity and age-related changes, to advanced surgical reconstruction.

Her lecture focused on Endoscopic Endonasal DCR, a scar-free technique for treating blocked tear ducts. This trans-nasal approach can be as effective as traditional external surgery, without a visible skin scar, offering excellent functional and cosmetic outcomes for patients with troublesome watering and sticky eyes.

We are proud to see Clinica London represented internationally, contributing to education, innovation and best practice in specialist eye care.

👁️ Clinica London. Global expertise. Delivered locally.

This week is Place2Be's Children’s Mental Health Week, with the theme “This is My Place” 💛

Feeling safe, confident and included starts with being able to see and understand the world around you. Clear vision supports learning, communication and emotional wellbeing - especially in busy environments like classrooms.

If a child is struggling to see clearly, it can affect their confidence and how they engage with others.

👀 A simple eye check can make a big difference.

👁️ Healthy Macula = Clear Vision

Your macula is the small but vital part of your retina responsible for sharp, detailed central vision - essential for reading, driving and recognising faces.

Conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and other macular diseases can develop silently, with little or no warning until vision is affected.

At Clinica London, our retinal specialists - Ms Evgenia Anikina, Mr Julian Robins, and Prof Michel Michaelides - use advanced imaging such as OCT scans to detect and manage macular disease at the earliest possible stage.

🔍 Early detection protects vision for years to come.

Dry eyes aren’t just about tears - eyelid structure matters too

OptiLIFT is an advanced treatment designed to support the eyelids and peri-ocular tissues, which play a crucial role in tear distribution and ocular surface health.

At Clinica London, OptiLIFT is used for:
• Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD)
• Evaporative dry eye disease
• Mild lower lid laxity (early ectropion or entropion)
• Supporting long-term eyelid function

Each treatment plan is clinically assessed, consultant-led, and tailored to the individual. For some patients, OptiLIFT is combined with OptiLIGHT IPL for enhanced outcomes.

This reflects our continued investment in ocular surface, corneal and eyelid-led care - delivered safely, responsibly and with evidence-based technology.
