First Aid Advisory: Don’t Use Ibuprofen/Nurofen for Chickenpox
As a first aid provider, we want to remind parents/Nannie’s or anyone who may be looking after a child that ibuprofen should not be used during chickenpox. Anti-inflammatories can, in rare cases, worsen infection and lead to serious complications.
Use paracetamol for fever instead, unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional.
Even Nurofen’s own guidance warns against using it with chickenpox.
If you’re worried about symptoms, seek medical advice.
A bath with soaked Oats or Bi carbonate of soda can help sooth and remove the itch.
