3 seated healthy heart exercises for you to try at home. Great to whilst your watching tv, or chatting on the phone.

1️⃣ Seated marching
Sit upright in a sturdy chair and slowly lift one knee at a time, as if marching. Keep the movement controlled and breathe steadily. This raises the heart rate gently while strengthening the hips and improving circulation.

2️⃣ Seated arm swings or punches
With feet flat on the floor, swing your arms forward and back or gently punch forward at chest height. This helps increase heart rate, improves upper-body strength, and encourage good posture.

3️⃣ Seated heel & toe taps
Alternate lifting your heels and toes, or gently tap your feet on the floor at a steady pace. This promotes blood flow, supports ankle mobility, and gives the heart a mild workout.

Love your body

Loving your body doesn’t mean pushing through pain or forcing yourself into exercise that feels overwhelming. For many people, especially older adults, those living with dementia, or individuals undergoing cancer treatment or recovering from surgery, movement should feel kind, safe, and supportive.

Physiotherapy helps the body move better at its own pace. It builds strength, improves balance, reduces stiffness, and restores confidence in everyday activities. Small, gentle movements really do matter - and they add up over time.

This month on our blog, we’re celebrating movement as self-care, not punishment. Take a read for a few gentle exercises to try today.

We’re so lucky to have the most amazing patients, many of whom have taken the time to write such kind reviews on our Google profile. Here are just a few of our short and sweet favourites; they truly mean so much to us.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their experience. We really appreciate your support.
If you haven’t yet written a review and have a spare minute, we’d be incredibly grateful if you could. Google reviews really do help future patients decide whether to book an appointment with us.

3 quick wins for a stiff back.

We are all to sedentary in our daily lives, whether your driving, working at a desk or sitting for hours. Doing these three things daily will help everyone.

1️⃣ Stand up & stretch little and often
Every 30–45 minutes, stand up and gently stretch your arms overhead or place your hands on your hips and slowly arch backwards. Even 30 seconds of movement helps reduce stiffness and improve circulation.

2️⃣ Seated spinal twists
While seated, place one hand on the opposite knee and gently twist your upper body to look over your shoulder. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides. This helps ease tension through the spine.

3️⃣ Short walk or march on the spot
A 2–5 minute walk (or marching on the spot) gets joints moving and warms up stiff muscles.

Movement is one of the quickest ways to relieve back stiffness caused by prolonged sitting.
If you can’t do these easily, have pain whilst doing them or want more exercises, get in touch with our My Physio At Home team. Covering South Hertfordshire, Essex and North London.

Why rehab matters (Beyond pain relief)
Pain relief can help in the short term, but it’s rarely the full solution.
Without rehabilitation, muscles can weaken, joints stiffen, balance decline, and confidence drop. This is especially true after illness, surgery, or periods of reduced activity.
Physiotherapy focuses on long-term recovery, helping people move more comfortably, safely, and confidently in daily life. At My Physio At Home, we tailor every programme to the individual, whether that’s elderly rehabilitation, dementia-friendly care, oncology rehabilitation, or pre- and post-operative recovery. 🧘
Loving your body means giving it the support it needs to heal properly.
We’re published a blog to inspire you to add regular gentle movements into your day. Take a read. 👍

Crimbo Limbo, that magical week between Christmas and New Year is the perfect time for a family walk.

But don’t leave Grandma or Grandpa at home! ❤️

Wrap everyone up warm, choose a route with a good, steady path, and head out for a gentle stroll together. Fresh air does wonders for all ages!

Got little ones? Pick a walk with a play park so the older generation can enjoy watching the fun.
And if anyone gets tired, no problem, plan a route with a coffee shop or pub stop, let them rest, and send the rest of the crew for another lap.

It’s simple, wholesome, and a lovely way to enjoy time together during the festive lull. ✨
