A day of remembrance and reflection at Sherwood Grange, where our residents enjoyed an enriching trip to the Imperial War Museum. Set within a former hospital, the museum offered a powerful journey through the history of modern warfare and the experiences of people affected by conflicts involving Britain and the Commonwealth from World War I to the present day.

We explored an incredible range of exhibits — from large-scale military hardware such as tanks and aircraft, to deeply moving personal artifacts and stories that shed light on both military and civilian life during times of war. The visit sparked thoughtful conversations, reflections, and a deeper appreciation of the resilience and sacrifices of those who lived through these moments in history.

We loved this day of discovery and can’t wait for our next one!

Recently, our residents spent a lovely morning at our local stables. The gentle clip-clop of hooves and the soft nuzzles from the horses brought smiles all around.

Residents enjoyed meeting some of the friendly riders and spending time in the stables, where they got to stroke the horses and learn a little about their routines and personalities. There were plenty of shared stories, laughter, and a few new favourite horses by the end of the visit!

A big thank you to the wonderful team at Stag Lodge Stables for welcoming us so warmly and making the visit so special.

A Fresh Coat and Fresh Friendships!

What a lovely morning we had at Sherwood Grange! We were joined by some wonderful students from Canbury School, who came along to help our residents give the garden woodwork a much-needed fresh coat of paint.

It was wonderful to see generations come together, share stories, and enjoy a meaningful morning of teamwork and creativity. A huge thank you to Canbury School for their time, energy, and kindness — you’ve truly made a difference!

We can’t wait to welcome you back soon!

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon exploring the beautiful grounds and gardens at Richmond Park; we wandered beneath the golden boughs of Isabella Plantation, where autumn whispered through the leaves and the gardens bloomed in quiet splendour.

Everyone loved taking in the vibrant colours, peaceful ponds, and gentle wildlife — it was the perfect way to spend a relaxing afternoon surrounded by nature.

Isabella, is always a home favourite with its beauty of colour and scenery.

Baking smiles at Sherwood Grange!

Our wonderful residents rolled up their sleeves this week to make some Crostatine di Marmellata (that’s fancy Italian for mini jam tarts!) with our lovely Laura!

There was laughter, lots of jammy fingers, and even more sweet memories made. The smell drifting through the home was absolutely irresistible — we might have a few star bakers on our hands!

There’s something truly special about spending time outdoors, and this week our residents enjoyed just that with a wonderful visit to Bushy Park.

We took a gentle stroll through the park’s beautiful grounds, soaking up the autumn sunshine, admiring the golden leaves, and even catching glimpses of the majestic wildlife that call the park home. The fresh air and peaceful surroundings brought so many smiles and sparked plenty of happy conversations along the way.

After exploring, we made our way to the charming Pheasantry Café, where we warmed up with coffee and treats. It was the perfect setting to relax together, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company after a morning of adventure.

Once upon a time at Sherwood Grange…

Our residents stepped straight into the pages of a fairytale last week, as the enchanting tale of Cinderella was brought to life by the talented dancers of the London Children’s Ballet.

With graceful twirls, sparkling costumes, and music that carried us away, our lounge was transformed into a royal ballroom. Smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears filled the room as everyone was swept up in the magic.

We are so grateful to the London Children’s Ballet for sharing their joy, energy, and magic with us.

Yesterday, our residents wandered into the serenity of Holland Park, where time seemed to slow and nature spoke in soft whispers. Beneath the golden canopy of trees and beside the still waters of the Japanese gardens, there was space to simply be — to breathe deeply, to listen, and to feel at peace.

Our residents shared how the gentle rustle of leaves and the warmth of the autumn sun lifted their spirits. Smiles came easily, conversations flowed quietly, and moments of stillness felt like little treasures to carry home.

Outings like these remind us of the beauty found not only in the world around us, but also in the joy of sharing it together.

A Day of Art and Nature

We recently visited the Watts Gallery and were treated to a fascinating guided tour, where residents had the chance to admire incredible artwork and learn about the history behind the pieces. The staff at the Gallery made us feel so welcome, and it was a joy to see so many smiles and conversations sparked by the art on display.

We also took time to explore the beautiful grounds surrounding the historic building. We loved wandering through the peaceful gardens, soaking up the fresh air, and taking in the stunning architecture before stepping inside to admire the art collections. The combination of nature and culture made for such a wonderful outing.

A big thank you to the team at Watts Gallery for making our visit so special.

At Sherwood Grange, we love welcoming creativity into our home – and we have the absolute pleasure of hosting art classes every week conducted by our talented artist Georgiana!

This week, she introduced our residents to the unique art of Coffee Sepia Paintings, where everyday coffee is transformed into beautiful works of art. The session was full of shared tips, concentration, and plenty of “wow” moments as residents experimented with this unusual (and wonderfully aromatic!) medium.

What an inspiring afternoon, proving once again that creativity has no age limits. A big thank you to Georgiana for sharing her skills and passion with us – we can’t wait to share more wonderful pieces of art from our residents!

Baking Day at Sherwood Grange!

Our wonderful residents rolled up their sleeves today and filled the home with the most delicious smells – freshly baked lemon biscuits!

From mixing the dough to cutting out shapes and adding the finishing touches, everyone got involved and enjoyed a lovely afternoon of baking (and tasting, of course!).

Simple moments like these bring so much joy – laughter, chatter, and plenty of biscuits to share with friends over a cup of tea.
