// HEALTH COACHING //

A little story of why I trained to become a health coach at the r teaching yoga for over 7 years, with an example of what coaching looks like.

Still teaching 1:1 yoga, but now working with people in health coaching 🌱

I’m learning so much everyday about functional medicine and healing the root cause.

I’ve also learned just how skilled good coaches are, and it’s given me such a huge respect for this line of work.

If my story intrigues you or you want to learn more about health coaching and how it might help you, hit the link in my bio to book a free discovery call.

Zero pressure at all to sign up.

Just meet me, ask a bunch of questions, and decide for yourself if you’d like to work together 🤓

Fact: Repetition rewires the brain 🧠

You have spent years training your brain to be a certain way, whether you’re aware of it or not…

Your daily thoughts, habits, past experiences, and environment all play a key role in shaping the future you.

We can absolutely re-shape our behaviour, even if we’re so set in our ways that it feels impossible.

Start with:

One run
One yoga class
One short meditation
One healthy meal per day
One day spent outside in nature
One [simply fill in the blank yourself]

It is all about unlearning the old, experiencing the new, and re-wiring. It takes time and A LOT of repetition, so be patient with yourself.

What are you doing to rewire your brain today? LMK in the comments 🖤

// FAILURE //

Failing is inevitable, and it’s necessary for growth.

But sometimes we keep on trying even when something is broken, because we’re so afraid of failing.

There are times actually, it’s better to just quit while you’re ahead.

Maybe your process isn’t working.

Maybe it’s just not the right time.

Maybe you weren’t ready.

Maybe you just got it wrong right from the start.

I’m not saying quit trying, I’m saying it’s OKAY to quit if it’s not working.

Don’t be afraid of failing - be afraid of staying stuck.

Double tap if you agree 🤍

// PRESENT VS FUTURE SELF //

Studies have found that peoples’ brain activity while considering their Future Selves more closely resembles brain activity while thinking about someone else altogether.

Let’s break this down a little. This means that when thinking of yourself in a month or a year or a decade, your brain registers that person in ways similar to how it would register a distant relative, a passer by on the street or someone you follow on Insta but have never met.

So, saving for future you or choosing the healthiest food to eat in the moment is the neurological equivalent of giving money away or making a healthy meal for a completely random person. 🤯

It becomes perfectly logical then to act in your own self interest in the moment, because your Future Self is so distant.

We are essentially fighting our biology and the way our brain’s are wired - a difficult feat for many. BUT we can create a stronger connection to our Future Selves by becoming aware in the first place of the way our brain is wired. As always, the first step to change is awareness.

Hands up if you struggle with procrastination?

// PHOTO DUMP // Second trip to Lisboa and I feel like we’re very well acquainted now 🤍👭 A big thank you to the birthday girl for smashing this year and organising such an amazing trip - there’s no one I’d rather be sweat faced dancing next to, marg in hand then to marching up hills with at 8am the next day 🍸

And to these ladies: my roomie and a fellow bestie and , , , for being the best travel buddies 🤍

Slow and sustainable growth is the way forward.

At least for me anyway.

It’s not about getting to the finish line as quickly as possible; it’s about making sure you’re not missing any important steps.

It’s about being slow and strategic, so you can sprint as and when needed.

Double tap if you agree. 💫

// COACHING // it’s a real skill, it’s not something you can “just do” and be good at; I have never had so much respect for my teachers as I do now. I’ve got a long way to go, but I am LOVING being a student and have seen such a huge change already. Here are my biggest takeaways so far 💫 Fellow coaches, what have been your biggest takeaways?

// THE DAM //

Three things I love about it:

▫️The Dutch efficiency. From the free 24 hour commuter ferry to the way it’s designed for cyclists and walkers.

▫️The village-like charm of the canals to the ‘vertical living’ wonky flats, making you feel right at home after a couple days.

▫️The cafés. Say no more. 🍄
