Balancedminduk

Balancedminduk I am a counsellor, psychologist and hypnotherapist offering my services in London. In my practice I use evidence-based approaches.

Psychology and helping others has been a part of my life for many years. I have always been interested in human psyche and behaviour. I wanted to explore how our mind works in order to understand ways in which we are similar and in which we differ from each other. I spent several years at university studying human mind and learning process still continues. I am also grateful I can now pass on my knowledge to psychology students. In addition to my formal education, I have gained a valuable experience when working with children with autism and their parents, people struggling with addictions and/or depression, anxiety, eating disorders, or gambling. Professional as well as personal interactions with children, young people and their families inspired me to pursue a career as a counsellor. I help my clients to understand that it is not what has happened to them in their lives, but the manner in which they react to these events matter. We cannot really stop things happening but we have a CHOICE how to respond to them. As a scientist, I believe in effectiveness of evidence-based practices (e.g. cognitive behavioural therapy, cognitive-behavioural hypnotherapy) and I used them in my approach to people I work with.

It's week 6 of our Early Language Development series!

Did you know that most babies start to understand their first words around 6 months? These first words are usually things, people or activities that are really common in their environment. Babies continue to learn more common words slowly and then their vocabulary spurts! You can help your little one to build their vocabulary by pointing to and naming things often during your daily routine like whilst you are out on a walk or reading picture books together

Do you know any interesting facts about early language development or have a question for our researchers? Let us know in the comments
