Tunç Tiryaki explains: Recovery after a facelift progresses more calmly than you might expect.
You stay in the hospital for the first 24 hours; pain is minimal, and mild swelling or bruising is normal. On the second day, you can return home and take a shower, and by days 3-4, you may rejoin social life.
It takes about 3-4 months for the final results to fully settle.

Thank you to for including my insights on the increasing number of younger patients seeking facelift surgery. While techniques continue to advance, a surgeon’s responsibility remains the same - to protect, preserve and enhance, never to overcorrect or erase individuality.

I would never perform a facelift on someone in their twenties unless there is a genuine medical reason, such as significant asymmetry or skin laxity due to a health condition or extreme weight loss. Ethical judgement is fundamental in aesthetic surgery; it’s not just about achieving a result, but ensuring it’s the right treatment, at the right time, for the right reasons.

Part 4 of Hilary’s Facelift Journey
Hilary is back for her final post-op check and couldn’t be happier with her results. After just two weeks, the swelling has gone down beautifully, her scars are healing and she says she already looks better than before her procedure.

With only 7 days of downtime, she’s been travelling, resting well and feeling completely herself again - an amazing recovery in such a short time, just as expected! We are delighted to see you so happy with your results and enjoying your post-surgical holiday.

Part 3 of Hilary’s Facelift Journey
One week after her procedure, Hilary returns for her follow-up. She’s pleasantly surprised to have experienced no pain and only minimal bruising, with just a little under-eye and chin discolouration appearing around day seven (which can be covered with makeup). There is very mild swelling, which is to be expected, but she’s feeling better and looking brighter every day!
Hilary has already been out enjoying the beautiful city and will continue making the most of her recovery holiday before returning to have her stitches removed next week — just in time to head home feeling refreshed, renewed and rejuvenated.
